This reportage is shallow, to be very economical with harsh words @nigeriapenbase.

This Captain has been injured and was left in deteriorating condition. Several Nigerians on twitter had to post his pictures and beg the NA to fly him abroad for treatment. This statement from the NA was the response to his case.
saw it on facebook too, what we are reading here is just image packaging........ grin grin grin grin

What exactly happened to the once gallant Nigerian Army who was known for her exploit in peacekeeping and warfare the world over

Thos who politicize and brought nepotism, tribalism and ethnicity to the army should come and see where their their greed has landed us.

Ordinarily, curbing the menace of Fulani herdsmen killing and Boko Haram insurgency should not have been a rocket science, but the aforementioned has greatly affected the capacity of the Nigerian Military...
Nigerian military has never been gallant at any point in time. All na wash. Is like you don't know the meaning of peace keeping? Peace keeping is not fighting war with an enemy.
The fact that Nigeria, like other nations donated soldiers in the UN/AU or ECOWAS Peace keeping operations in some troubled west African nations and somewhere else in Africa, like Sudan or Congo does not mean Nigeria has a strong military. Peace keeping mission by International organisation is all about serving as a neutral party between two warring factions in a given country, to ensure they maintain a cease fire and sought out their differences amicably. And to protect the civilians, providing them with relieved materials and food.
Nigerian military has never invaded or gone to war with any country before. Even, peace keeping operations, it cannot do it unilaterally. It has to do it under the operation of international organisation, like ECOWAS or UN.
Because Nigerian army is good at harassing armless civilians and has participated in peace keeping in Liberia and Sierra Leone, many Nigerians think they are strong. Even in Africa, Nigerian military is the fourth strongest. After Egypt, South Africa, and Algeria.

So sad. I don't thinks this technically defeats of bokoharam is good a enough. It's high time, Nigeria Army step up their game and defeats them physically too. At least to put all these pockets of violence or attacks to rest once and for all.
God bless NA

Thanks for your opinion, but I would fault you in some areas. Let's take Liberia for example, when Nigerian troops got to Monrovia in the late 80s/ early 90s for peacekeeping operations, they meant an hostile rebels who taught that they were in the country to take side with the then central government. The rebels saw them as enemies and treated them as such, it took the gallantry of Nigerian Army to liberate the rebels and subsequently brought peace to that troubled country.

Nigerian Army was applauded all over the world for that rare feat where supposedly "world powers" failed. Till date, Nigerian military is still in charge of Liberian Armed Forces.

Same feat was achieved in Somalia after the US Army suffered great casualty in the hand of rebels in Somalia. If in doubt, get the movie "Black Hawk Down" and watch it with keen interest.

Nigerian Army has turn out to be this abysmal due to the reasons I listed above and more...

Thanks

Keep deceiving yourself.
Which world power applauding Nigeria for what it did in Liberia? If Liberia can seek for the assistance of Nigerian military, that is not a big deal. It is as a result of the advantages that Nigeria enjoys over Liberia. The same way it sought the assistance in other areas, like workforce, teachers, academics and so on. As a matter of fact, Gambia constitution was drafted by a Nigerian. Its chief justice is a Nigerian. There are many Nigerian professors and lectures there. How big is Liberia or Gambia? A country that is not up to Oyo state. Nigeria is more than the half of the entire west Africa's economy, population, investment, GDP and many more. Well, power is relative. That is, Nigeria is a powerful among the weak. By west Africa standard, at least, you can boast that Nigeria is powerful.
For your information, world power do not have much interest in what is going on in Liberia or Somalia. So your assumption that western nations failed there is erroneous.

For you to say US army failed in Somalia and Nigerian army recorded a great feat makes me conclude that you're a joker.

if NA can treat a whole captain in such manner, only God knows what they do to their injured rank and file.

this press release is just a cover up in response to the call out made by the captain's friends/family regarding the state of his injuries.

I would advice you lay your hands on some historical materials that will help in opening your eyes to the reality of what Nigerian troops did in Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Somalia and a host of others.

Wait a minute, have you seen the movie I told you to see before concluding that the USA didn't fail in Somalia

I believe the wounded gallant soldier deserve some respect, the fact that there are some bad eggs among them does not justify any reason to undermine importance, maybe if you have the opportunity to spent a day with the soldiers in the battle field then the price paid by the less appreciated heros
