Salary Arrears Will Be Paid This Week - Akeredolu by ayfay047(f): 6:30am On Nov 14, 2018
Ondo State governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has said that part of the salary arrears of the state civil servants will be paid this week.

He said he would not deviate from his administration’s avowed commitment to the promotion of workers’ welfare.

The governor said in spite of the limited resources at the disposal of the government, he had not hesitated to strive to meet the ever-increasing needs of the people of the state.

It will be recalled that Akeredolu, who has been up-to-date in the payment of workers’ salaries since he assumed office, inherited seven months unpaid salaries from his predecessor of which he has already paid four months.

He said: “It gladdens my heart that despite the quantum of development projects being embarked upon by our administration in the face of the obvious lean resources, the welfare of public servants have been given its pride of place.”

Akeredolu spoke on Tuesday in Akure while presenting N403 million cheques to owners of properties affected by the construction of dual carriageways in the state.

Beneficiaries of the cheques came from Akure, Ore, Ikare and Owo.

The governor, who said the era of abandoned projects in the state has gone for good, hinted that no one or section of the state would be forced to bear unreasonable burden.

He said: “This why our government is ensuring that all those whose properties are affected by our development activities are duly compensated.

“The quantum of money we are paying today is demonstration of our good intention to the people whose properties were affected one way or the other.

“The payment is to make it easy for them to relocate, acquire new properties and continue life without hardship or encumbrances.”

Akeredolu added that since he assumed office, his administration had spent N9 billion on construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of roads across the state.

He said: “Every sector of our state has been touched positively and we have resolved to keep delivering on our electioneering promises to our people.

“This is signposted by the series of projects and programmes, completed and ongoing throughout the state.

“Let me reiterate that our administration is irrevocably committed to the successful completion of all ongoing projects. All projects awarded will be duly paid for on satisfactory completion.”
