OAU is the cheapest and best university in the sub sahharan Africa. I didn't pay up to N19000 for school fees and hostel accomodation as a fresh student.

OAU is the cheapest. The whole tuition i paid to get a Bachelors degree( from 100level to 400 level)is less that 50 thousand naira, 5,300 naira( from 200level-400level) and 10,300 naira for 100level and accommodation is even as cheap as 2,590 naira per session.
Re: Which Federal University is the cheapest in Nigeria by scoro99(m): 1:27pm On Jul 24, 2010
@niyi09, if this is what u paid, then OAU is not even among the top three cheapest schools.

But then, it all boils down to the periods we are talkin about.

I studied Accountancy in UNN( between 2001-2005), i paid #4205, #1805,#1205 and #11500 respectively for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and final year, not up tp 20k in total.

I think Unibadan is the cheapest, my cousin paid #800 when i paid #1805.

OUA is the chepest no doubt about that @scoro99 what u shld ask is when @niyi09 paid that amount.during my 1st year @UNILORIN(2001/2002) returning students paid #1090 by 2006 they paid #6300.

Futo has a good record of keeping school fees low, apart from that, food and other things like transportation are low too. The only issue however is accommodations, which I think is still relatively low as compared to other universities.

As far back as 2005, UniAbuja's fee was about 6k! My friend graduated in 2007 and d whole fees he paid to get his degree did not amount to 20k! So low for a federal university in a nation's capital!
Re: Which Federal University is the cheapest in Nigeria by Feexo: 2:55pm On Jul 24, 2010
I finished from OAU in 2008 and it was very affordable then but am not so sure now but going by the tradition there they do not increase tuition fees indiscriminately. The school is also one of the best in this country if not the best.

I paid very low tuition and accommodation fees while I was an undergraduate at the University of Ibadan between 2001-2005. I don't know if the fees have been increased now. Even when the Hall Residence fee [ Bed Space ] was increased from 90 Naira per session to 3,500 Naira, UI students were still paying low fees generally. OAU seems to be the cheapest university. Normally, the Nigerian Universities Commission [ N.U.C ] should have all the data we need including the tuition and accommodation fees of all Universities in Nigeria. We don't take data capture seriously in Nigeria. Cheers.

I really dont think u guys are correct.
There is no way the cheapest federal university will be in the southwest.

where are the northerners on NL? please come up with ur prices so that these posters can see! the cheapest University in Nigeria is BOUND to be in the north. Remember their government has to practically beg them to go to school (i.e until very recently.)

Mind u, I'm an Igbo man.
Re: Which Federal University is the cheapest in Nigeria by chuqudy(m): 2:38pm On Jul 25, 2010
I think the cheapest Mahadum(university) on board now is Peace Keeping University. So applications are invited from you all. Registration is 100 naira. School fees is 1000 naira. Accomodation is free. For feeding, you are on your own. So rush now before it is too late. Signed management.
