The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) which was created in February 1998 has the vision of eradicating road traffic crashes and creating safe motoring environment in Nigeria.

They also have it as their responsibility to prevent or minimize accidents on highway; clearing obstruction on any part of highway; educating motorists; giving prompt attention and care to victims of accident; designing and producing vehicle number plates and lots more.

This post is particularly about their responsibility of designing and producing vehicle number plate.

The agency has given out their list of approved centers for number plate. This is for the 36 states and capital in the country.

While some states have just one location, Lagos has 47 locations. This makes Lagos the state with most number of locations. Edo has 9; Ekiti, 6;Bayelsa 5; Rivers,3.

Ridiculous. Lagos is boasting of almost 50 centers while some states with far larger size have just one. Any justifiable reason for this?

FRSC not VIO is the sole process owner and producer of both number plate and driver's licence.

I heard they have started arresting cars with old number plates in Abuja.
Can anyone pls help differentiate the old from the new number plates.BTW FRSC are not skilling,Christmas is around the corner.

You are correct, just know dat until recent when we just want to change the plate number for a brother of mine. Immediately it is changed the car document will bear his name making him d authentic owner of the car. The funniest thing is we have been using d car for some years now with the old number

So in Oyo state for example, a resident of Saki or Okeho needs to travel for about three hours to Ibadan to start the process of obtaining a driver's licence. This is unfair.

Ondo has 1 and Ekiti and Edo which are smaller has much more
