It's just a tradition that has existed for 100's of years at the oduduwas palace. They also do shaku shaku with the permanent queen as part of the coronation rite. This is common knowledge to folks from ife.

What other explanation do you need. If you go on tour at the palace, you would be shown her shrine i.e the spot where she transformed. What the king said is 100% true.
