In fact any late goalkeeper will do. It’s just to honor those we have lost.

I would rather give it to Peter Rufai

Can you think of any great Goalkeeper that is late?

Sam Ibiam, first Nigerian National team GK

If I had my way I would recognize all those forgotten first heroes.

ok that's true. Sam Ibiam is late now.

Ok, we can go with Sam Ibiam if other Committee members approve of it.

For Midfield we also have Thompson Oliha asides Samuel Okwaraji

If we are talking historical it should be about influence and excellence as well. Christian Chukwu ( Chairman) or even Henry Nwosu with regards to Midfielder awards.

Joebie is looking at we naming the awards after our late players. And I think I also buy the idea. However, it will be a decision for the entire house.

Meanwhile, Chief Forgiveness, we are still awaiting your response on list of awards.

Tomorrow we roll out the final list of awards and then spell out criteria for selection of nominees.

Best Ogedengbe was Nigeria's keeper at the 1980 Nations cup that we won. He has passed away.

Yes Ibiam was the first national team goalkeeper buh what were his achievements for the national team? I think Best Ogedengbe who was the first team goalkeeper in the 80s and a member of the all conquering squad that won us our first Afcon, fits the bill better.

My pick is #BestOgedengbe

Yeah, he is a more recent Goalkeeper than Sam Ibiam and also more famous.

For the Best Midfielder's award we are toren between two Fallen heroes: Samuel Okwaraji and Thompson Oliha.

Tbaba1234, ChrisKels, Joebie, TheSuperNerd, Forgiveness, Komekn, let's chose one.

I go for Samuel Okwaraji especially as he died during service.

I go with Okwaraji as well

Is there any need tagging the awards with the names of fallen heroes?

Is it not better to just list the awards without fallen heroes attached?
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Joebie: 4:10pm On Nov 24, 2018
Either way it doesn’t take anything away from what we are doing. Let’s discuss the more pertinent issues.

Next, the list of award Categories. So as not to prolong matters, I have here a list of categories. Members of committee can also add theirs. But we should try not to make the list too long so as not to make voting difficult or combasome for people. Adjustments can also be made on the list below:

1. Nigerian Player of the Year
2. Nigerian Home based player of the Year
3. Most impactful New Inclusion (2018)
4. Best Goalkeeper (Vincent Enyeama award)
5. Best Defender (Stephen Keshi award)
6. Best Midfielder (Jay-jay Okocha award)
7. Best Attacker (Rashidi Yekini award)
8. Young player of the year (for players 21yrs and less)
9. Super Falcons player of the year
10. Super Eagles Goal of the year.

cc: Tbaba1234, Forgiveness, Komekn, TheSuperNerd, ChrisKels and Joebie

Ok, now we move forward with the list below:

2. Nigerian Home based player of the year
3. Most impactful New Inclusion (2018)
4. Best Goalkeeper (Best Ogedengbe Award)
5. Best Defender (Stephen Keshi Award)
6. Best Midfielder (Oliha/Okwaraji Award)

Setting Criteria for players Selection.

We do not have the complete Data base of the statistics of the individual players, so we don't need to make the criteria too scientific. These are going to be simple and justifiable criteria.

I will suggest below:
1. All award categories should be for players who have featured for any of the national teams (IE, Super Eagles, CHAN Eagles, Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets, Super Falcons, Falconets and Flamingos)
2. Rating of players should be based on national team performances only.
3. Young Player of the Year is strictly for players 21years and below.
4. For The Best Attacker award I suggest points should be generated as thus: Goal-2 points, assist-1 point.
5. Selection of 3 players for the other sections of the team( ie Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Midfielder) can be subjective but also objective.

We can add more or remove any from the list above
