Buhari terminated the mercenaries contract out of spite.
Even the US uses mercenaries e.g Blackwater to minimize army casualties.

In Buhari and APC mad quest laced with severe hate to do away with everything Jonathan and PDP they threw away the bathwater alongside the baby.

If there's any units so adapt in fighting Boko haram it is the 7 infantry Division and the 72 MSF I recall that during the buildup to the 2015 general elections those divisions were in the lip of security experts and persons following this Boko haram insurgency.

Even the US with all her military might and sophistication used defence contractors in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. This government think they know everything in actual fact they know nothing even the multi national joint task force had fallen apart with the advent of this government.

Nigeria shall rise again

The main aim of this trash was stated below somewhere. They're pained because their contract was terminated. If there were as many as 100 soldiers present in that location, it only proves that the military had massive presence on ground. They just need to step up their game to guard against this type of ambush in the future.

There are soldiers whose primary duty is surveillance to guard ambushes.

RIP to the dead ones.

The STTEP Chairman claims the service of his company was discontinued by PMB regime probably on inception. So one would wish to know the channel through which they tried to pass the said Intel. Most importantly, how where they able to gather such intel when their contract had already been terminated. Where they contracted by another party in the same theater of conflict?

The report mentioned that soldiers and policemen they trained are still in contact with them. That is more than enough source. Secondly, how do you want them to tell you who they gave information they have? Do you know how secret services and intelligence agencies work?

Well I can pardon your ignorance because it shows you don't anything about military operations and intelligence gathering. In any given operation or military activity the three forces must work in coordination though sometimes two can he available due to some things. In this case army and air force are always working together in land fight mostly. Please note that. Now to your question intelligence gathering can be done in two ways 1 human surveillance and air surveillance for the sake of explanation since the mercenaries are more capable to task different things to do the work than ur airforce yes they still can be working right now and we dont know it.

They can task satellite to do surveillance work 24/7
They can UAV of high grade such could be flying over enemy and they don't know all this care means of intelligent gathering . So far we can do this I bet it's easy to work without even stepping foot on Nigeria soil.

First will be polite enough to tell you I am not Igbo, I am from an ethnic minority group. Now as per proof, I am an avid follower of the war against Boko Haram, it's come naturally when you have 3 relatives fighting in the North East. Now, there is this military blog, beegeagle.(Africa largest defense blog) if you check up post related to the 72nd mobile strike force, I am sure you will understand why we needed and still need those mercenaries. There are other African defense blog that explains the roles of those mercenaries in the North, I will be happy to point you in the right direction. thanks

I think he has patronized it by ignoring intelligence warnings from a reliable regional power like South Africa. The only excuse I can coin out for his is that he may not be well informed about the warning or perhaps other distractions could have exhausted the supposed budgeted resources meant for the Boko Haram program on his part.

In short simple terms, buhari needs to rehire your company to help us fight boko haram?
And the best time to reiterate this point is when Nigeria just lost some of our gallant fighters?.

I hope Us army also called him for a contract hire when they lost 4,424 men in Iraq and 2,372 in Afghanistan .

Its very clear that boko haram has turned into a billion dollars industry with many benefactors(like the arms dealers, meceneries, defense contractors and corrupt government officials) and Nigerians the sole lossers (same losers still politicising it out of sheer ignorance).

One thing is certain about northeast, they have the violence ideology, and no amount of war can change it. They were the same matersina sect of the 80s, they had another one in the 90s and now 2012 till date, this are different Generation with same ideology.

Should we continue paying meceneries for are recurrent problem, since Goodluck paid in dollars few days to 2014 election, Buhari should also pay some days to 2019 elections. When are we going to end such cycle. Who even know if the beneficiary of the war are the ones arming boko haram

I disagree with bolded. The long-term strategy for winning should be massive recruitment, training and massive acquisition of hardware. But all that takes times. With soldiers dropping dead and the army close to being in disarray, mercenaries are a good idea in the short term. Buhari should have focused on arming and recruitment once he disengaged the mercs or maybe he should even have retained them for a little longer. At least, they recorded huge successes when they were here. Mercenaries are bad news, yes, but war is already bad enough and these guys were effective.

Rubbish, these guys enabled elections to hold in North East that brought your Buhari to power. The trained and equipped the overused Strike Force , Buratai has not been able to bring up another effective striking force since he spends more time buying houses in Dubai with his 'salary'
