There has been a murder.

A man lays in a large pool of blood on his living room floor with multiple stab wounds and signs of a struggle.

Elsewhere, a friend of the deceased who was not at the scene and did not witness the crime believes he knows the identity of the murderer, even though he has no knowledge to base this on.

With no further investigation and no forensic examination, the accused is arrested, charged and sentenced to first-degree murder, all based on the testimony of the friend who could provide no evidence for his accusation.

This would be seen as grossly negligent policing and a travesty of justice if it were to take place in the real world.

Yet, this is how faith works in religion.

Faith, by its very definition, requires no evidence or examination, just a belief that the conclusion that is reached is true.

This is known as circular reasoning; a logical fallacy in which the reasoner begins with what they are trying to end with, in the case of faith, it is believing that the belief is true.

In society, we expect a high level of scrutiny by our police to find out what is true. We take for granted that more than one side of an argument is listened to and that evidence is sought rather than relying on the opinions of others for the convictions of criminals.

When this is not adhered to, we call this a miscarriage of justice.

It is in this regard that one might call faith a 'miscarriage of logic'; the conviction of ones mind that their belief is true without sufficient evidence.

Confession by John Grisham is based on this premise of "it's true because I believe it's so".

While you're busy trying to figure faith out, faithfuls are busy applying it successfully and enjoying it's results.

Spiritual realities cannot be explained to instigate belief in a sensual and carnal mind.
It's like trying to explain Mandarin to a non-asian or Organic Chemistry to an art student or Art to a Mathematician.
