Is travelling to the US now a requirement for Nigerian public office holders?

If the man committed an offense, why has he not been arrested in Nigeria?

I pity your reasoning, the questions here is about integrity and since integrity is alien In this zoo called Nigeria. It behold on someone like atiku who is the grand commanders of theifs to visit the US, which has standard for integrity. Stop wailing bro

Well, your glasses are different from mine.

First, we don't need a country (whose president isn't walking paths close to integrity) to tell us what is integrity and what is not...yes, atiku lacks integrity, financially but buhari also lacks integrity, educationally, economically and security wise

Looking at records of Jonathan and buhari as heads of state, integrity wise, wasn't Jonathan better, why then did they aid buhari in getting elected if the meaning of integrity crossed their minds?

Secondly, at least I know of both buhari and Jonathan going to the country to get both support (giving something in return) and approvals on how to run our country, for heaven's sake, why then are we called a sovereign state

There's no case against him in Nigeria, but there's one or two against him in the USA and according to reports obtained by some media outlets, the Visa ban was an executive order by the president of the United States.

It means the US embassy can not grant him any Visa no matter what.

Btw, going to the USA is not a requirement, but the reason why he can not go to the USA is a requirement and what really should concern you as a Nigerian.

They have facts that he illegally moved $40 million into the USA via phoney offshore entities and in doing so committed a crime against the USA and the people of the USA. This is apart from the Jefferson case.

The liars are at it again. Once USA approves your visa, it means you've been cleared of any charges( if you were once indicted of one). Visa means, access or clearance . Atiku doesmt need any further approval anyfurther the visa has been issued to him. Only some gullible minds would believe this fake news. The man is on his way to the uk now, if he's not there already. No amount of apc lies would stop me from voting this man next year. Right-thinking Nigerians know we need him.

Wrong.

Visa means authority granted to present at a point of entry.

The Immigration Official at POE grants entry into the country and for how long.

He can also temporarily arrest a fugitive while the FBI is enroute to take full custody.

He never moved the money illegally , it was counterpart payment to his American university technical partners, problem was that it was at the height of 911 emotions and homeland security had stringent measure in place to track suspicious funds coming into the US and Atikus 40 million raised a red flag , even Dangote was taken in for question by FBI in Potomac at the same period but was cleared when he was found be Sugar and cement mogul .... stop your lies against Atiku

This is incorrect.

Atiku is just one of many people involved in money laundering at various points, involving banks and the American University. Other people involved are his wife, Jemila and Volpi - his partner in Intels. Jemila cannot enter US either. At the time of the offense she was a citizen. Im sure her citizenship is revoked by now. Citizens must enter US soil every so often, and also must file income tax and waivers for foreign earned incomes every year. Her naturalized citizenship would have been revoked by now considering she has not returned in over a decade. If she steps foot in US she will be arrested as well. Volpi paid restitution after he was tried and found guilty. Their case have no remote connection with events of 9/11.

V. ABUBAKAR CASE STUDY:

USING OFFSHORE COMPANIES

TO BRING SUSPECT FUNDS INTO THE UNITED STATES

Jennifer Douglas Abubakar, a U.S. citizen, is the fourth wife of Atiku Abubakar, the
former Vice President of Nigeria and a former candidate for the Presidency of Nigeria. This case
history examines how, from 2000 to 2008, Ms. Douglas helped her husband bring over $40
million in suspect funds into the United States, including at least $1.7 million in bribe payments
from Siemens AG, a German corporation
, and over $38 million from little known offshore
corporations, primarily LetsGo Ltd. Inc., Guernsey Trust Company Nigeria Ltd., and Sima
Holding Ltd.

Over half of the suspect funds, nearly $25 million, were wire transferred by the offshore
corporations into U.S. bank accounts opened by Ms. Douglas. For most of the time period
examined, the U.S. banks with those accounts were unaware of Ms. Douglas’ PEP status, and
allowed multiple large wire transfers into her accounts from the offshore corporations. As, over
time, each of the banks began to question the wire transfers into her accounts
, Ms. Douglas
indicated that all of the funds came from her husband and professed little familiarity with the
offshore corporations actually sending her money.

Bank records indicate that Ms. Douglas used most of the funds placed into her accounts
to support a lavish lifestyle in the United States, paying credit card bills and household expenses
in the range of $10,000 to $90,000 per month, including substantial legal and accounting bills.

B. Using Offshore Corporations To Bring

Suspect Funds Into the United States

From 2000 to 2008, Mr. Abubakar and Ms. Douglas used a network of accounts at U.S.
financial institutions to bring over $40 million in suspect funds into the United States through
multiple wire transfers supplied by offshore corporations located in Germany, Nigeria, Panama,
the British Virgin Islands, and Switzerland. Nearly $25 million of those funds were wire
transferred to more than 30 U.S. bank accounts opened by Ms. Douglas in her own name or in
the name of the
Jennifer Douglas Abubakar Family Trust, the Gede Foundation, or American
University of Nigeria (AUN). She opened 18 of those accounts at Citibank, four at Chevy Chase
Bank, six at Wachovia Bank, and three at Eagle Bank in Maryland, among other financial
institutions. These four banks opened accounts for Ms. Douglas in most cases without being
aware of her PEP status

For most of the seven years, Citibank was unaware of Ms. Douglas’ PEP status. In 2007, Citibank learned
of Ms. Douglas’ PEP status, and began closing her accounts. By August 2007, all of her
accounts were closed

Siemens Payments. As explained earlier, in December 2008, the U.S. Department of Justice
(DOJ) and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed criminal and civil pleadings
alleging that Siemens AG had violated the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and
engaged in a wide-ranging pattern of paying bribes to foreign officials to advance its interests in
several countries.1092 Siemens pled guilty to violating the books and recordkeeping requirements
of the FCPA.1093 One provision in the SEC complaint alleged as follows

[A]pproximately $2.8 million of the bribe payments was routed through a bank account in
Potomac, Maryland, in the name of the wife of a former Nigerian Vice President. The Vice
President’s wife
, a dual U.S.-Nigerian citizen living in the United States, served as the
representative of a business consultant that entered into fictitious business consultant
agreements … but did no actual work for Siemens. The purpose of these payments was to
bribe government officials. Other corrupt payments included the purchase of approximately

The Subcommittee contacted Siemens about this allegation and also reviewed the
Citibank account records. The Subcommittee identified Citibank records showing three wire
transfers from Siemens AG, in 2001 and 2002, that together provided over $1.7 million to
Ms. Douglas’ personal checking account at Citibank. This chart identifies those wire transfers.

1. The US Congress investigated Atiku and they conclusively determined with facts and bank documents that Atiku took bribe from Siemens and deposited that funds into his wife's bank account. Siemens plead guilty and paid fines and restitution to the US government.

1. Visiting the USA is of course standard for integrity because without integrity, they will not let you into their country same way they are denying Atiku entry into their country.

2. The fact that other corrupt people are not on the radar or haven't been investigated like Atiku doesn't mean integrity is not the required standard to enter the USA, it is, others just haven't been caught.

3. Your argument sounds like it is ok to steal because other people are stealing too. That was a corrupt manner of thinking.

4. Atiku collecting bribe and laundering it through the US banking system was a gross violation of their laws.

5. Atiku is a designated PPE in the US, a politically exposed person, meaning he's already been flagged and the US banking and financial institutions can not do business with him. That's lack of integrity.

Atiku claiming he will travel to the USA by the end of November which he is unable to accomplish though he as the visa to the USA already should tell you he as no integrity. That is what the debate should be about. It is indeed sad you do not have the intelligence to figure that out but it is understandable that like every Ipob you all have chosen not to make use of your medulla when Atiku is the topic. You can now continue with you self delusion n denial.
so,travelling to the US is now an accomplishment for You? (I'm using your own words)
