Salary Of Police Service Personnel (foreign) by CyberG: 11:09pm On Jul 30, 2010
I was just surfing around and found the salary information of Police Service personnel in a Canadian city. I checked for others to compare but could not readily find it on their website but this one seems good to share! How much do Nigerian Police personnel get paid in Nigeria today? Anyone has that information?

From a previous salary of about N10,000, a police constable now earns between N22,000 and N27,000 depending on his length of service and accommodation plan, while a sergeant’s pay has gone up from N15,000 to about N30,000. And from a pay slip of about N22,000, a Police inspector now earns at least N50,000 monthly.

The new salary structure is part of the 13-point welfare programme the IGP promised officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force recently. Other noteworthy aspects of the programme include provision of decent housing, payment of the backlog of outstanding police contributions to the National Housing Fund, clearance of outstanding promotions, allowing deceased police officers’ families to remain in the barracks for at least six months, and giving more attention to manpower training and development.

Before now, the usual mantra by the Police authorities was that the officers and men were demoralised, poorly kitted and lacked the wherewithal to fight crime. It was argued that the Police welfare package, including allowances, had remained poor over the years, made worse by inflation. The result was that the Police Force acquired the reputation of the most corrupt public agency in the country

We could do a "structural adjustment" to policemen without buying so many equipments that they dont have and our police would be better
Imagine how much they pay them when they have children, wife, brothers, sisters, father, mother, grand parents e.t.c to cater for thats why SOME of them steal/extort
They also risk their life in duty
Now,in Lagos have u seen the police barracks(when going to the airport) shit thats one hell of a place
Now,politicians who dont risk their life on duty they only risk their cloth on duty (as dino melaye and his co-horts) get paid N22 million quartely and they are demanding raising it to N42 million, they get all kind of allowances and live in mansions or 5-star hotel
Now if the N22 million was reduced to N2 million anad their salary + allowances was reduced and the reduced money goes to rehabilitate police barracks and increase their salary it would bring about "structural adjustment" if all the best police equipment was bought for them it would not make them better unless this "structural adjustment" is made

When you look at what our policemen ( and indeed the military) earn in Nigeria compared to what our politicians earn, you will weep for our para-military and military men who risk their lives for this country. To add salt to injury, these politicians further loot our treasury with bold face.
This is a really sad situation. sad sad
