Armed men kidnap six, kill one in Esa Oke

Suspected Fulani armed men have killed a staff of Osun State College of Technology, OSCOTEH, Esa-Oke. About six staffers were also kidnapped by the armed groups that stormed the school this morning.
The murdered staff was Emmanuel Olaniyi, a staff of the Registry department.
Irohinoodua was informed that the suspected Fulani armed men who did not wear masks stormed the school with AK-47 after which they killed the official and also kidnapped five workers.
“They are Fulani armed groups. We saw them. We know them when we see them. They stormed the institution with sophisticated weapons. They shot Emmanuel and picked the members of staff at gun point,” Mr Hassan Akele an official of the institution told Irohinoodua today.
He said he was one of those lucky to escape. He said there are many of the armed men hiding in the bush and that it has been their past time to kidnap students and lecturers for ransom.
The Esa-Oke and Ekiti axis have been a hotbed of criminal activities involving suspected Fulani armed groups. Only last week, the corpse of a lawyer from Ikole-Ekiti, theb NBA local Chairman, Mr Adeola Adebayo was discovered in a bush after millions of naira had been paid in ransom. The lawyer was kidnapped with his wife, children and parents. They eventually released the others but held on to the lawyer until he was killed and his body dumped in the bush.
The names of the recent victims have been given as Mr Olaleye Olalekan, Adeyeoluwa Bankole, the Head of Department, Civil Engineering Department, Dr Jesuola Ajibola, the Director of Ventures, Mr Oni Adenreti, the Secretary to the Civil Engineering Department and Racheal Akinboye who was in charge of the insitution’s Microfinance Bank.
A police officer who does not wish to be named told Irohinoodua that investigations into the kidnap was ongoing saying the police would get into the bottom of the matter.
