Amazing! University Graduands Set To Flag Off Empowerment Programme In 36 States by UNIBENNEWS: 12:30am On Dec 07, 2018
A team of graduating students from across Nigerian Higher institutions named MR VOICEOVER MENTORSHIP INITIATIVE, who recently got an international award recognition as Organization Making A Difference In West Africa based on their humanitarian acts and for continually being a voice to the physically challenged, orphans, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other less privileged members of the society has revealed that the international recognition is a motivation to impact more lives, alleviate poverty and create enabling platforms for job creation for the Nigerian youths who represents 60 percent of the over 200 million Nigerian population, and have proposed to storm the 36 states of the federation with their national youth empowerment programme slated for next year.

The founder of the initiative, Emmanuel Oluwasayomi Ahmadu who recently won the Student Brand Of The Year West Africa on West Africa Citizens Awards 2018, during an interview with our correspondent at the award ceremony in Lagos, spoke about their upcoming nationwide youth empowerment programme in 2019 set to hold with support of International agencies, federal goverment of Nigeria, state government and other government parastatals in the 36 states of the country, which is geared towards empowering the Nigerian students and the unemployed youths by creating avenues for talent discovery and development leading to sustainable assets needed to tackle unemployment menace, as well as alleviating poverty among the poorest of the poor in the society.

Members of the team lauded the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari for creating jobs and empowering the youths. They pledged their unflinching commitment to the present administration's job creation initiative for youth empowerment through creative skills geared towards creating jobs and making a lasting impact in Nigeria's economy and beyond.

Mr. Ahmadu admonished that graduates and youths should put on their thinking caps to see what they can contribute to the country rather than what they will benefit. He also decried the conventional empowerment scheme adopted by representatives in government to train youths and graduates in soap making, tie-dying, shoe making and others. If all graduates and youths are trained in soap making and the likes, who are the graduates that would mount the helm of affairs in the various sectors of the economy in the nearest future? He stressed.

The team founder added that representatives in government should embrace the innovative way of empowerment, by empowering the youths and graduates according to their natural talents and abilities, as well training youths and graduates in the skill of their interest and not the skill imposed on them by those in government, as this would boost the economy and would make the youths very productive and become employer of labour, since it's the field of their interest.

He stressed that over 85 percent of Nigerian graduates do not practice what they studied because they either do not have space in the labour market to practice what they studied or they are frustrated because their talents and innovative skills are wasting away and this is why most Nigerian youths indulge in social vices to survive and seeking for means to leave the country, so they could go to other countries to contribute their innovative talent to those country's economy, since their skills would be better appreciated in those countries.

Speaking further, he emphasized on the need for government to support their innovative skills, thereby creating an enabling platform for more innovative graduates and youth to contribute their problems-solving ideas and expertise to bring substantial growth to the country.

Mr Voiceover Mentorship Initiative members consists mostly of graduates and graduating students of higher institutions across Nigeria, whose names are but not limited to Emmanuel Oluwasayomi Ahmadu, Onwuzurike Andrew, Olorunfemi Ayodele, Onu Isaac, Adenola Godswill, Opene Paul, Akomolafe Jesutomi, Adesina Solomon, Osazuwa John, Ariyo Bolanle Jumoke and others are currently working with International agencies, Nigeria government parastatals and well-meaning and kindhearted Nigerians within and outside Nigeria in the realization of the National Youth Empowerment Excercise across the 36 states ahead of 2019.

The sustainable impact on youth empowerment programme is themed: Talent Discovery and Development, A Panacea to Solving Unemployment Menace in Nigeria and Africa.

The vision of the initiative is to create a template for those in government to understand the dimensions of empowerment and job creation for the unemployed youths and graduates.
