Germany was a super power within 1945 era when the world war 2 took place, likewise their allies; Japan and Italy but the Allied Forces comprising: UK, US, Russia, France, Poland, Australia, etc were much more in number than the Nazis, so they won.

This was the same fate Biafra suffered.
