exactly.

many of the arguements are just based on confirmation bias.

Reality hasnt struck on some of them, the embassies wont give every one visas, many of them will stay and die in Nigeria, the western world are tighten their immigration requirements, it shows that in the next 5-10 years it will be very difficult for many Nigerians to immigrate.

now is the time for them to start building their country.

No truer words has been said !!!

cheesy he! he! Thanks for the suggestion cheesy cheesy

punishments is punishment

you have to start from day 1

He breaks a cup, he is not getting another one in a while, nor using cups cheesy cheesy

When you use what Yoruba people call "Abo"" for two good weeks the chikd will know better than to break cups grin

You break the bulb in ur room, you all will be in darkness for a while (scare them a lil bit too, next time, they will be careful

You did not do your chores

No goodies for you plus extra punishments cheesy

You did not wake up in time to wash the car

young man you are TREKKING TO SCHOOL

You pick a fight on the street (my God! you are FINISHED!)

The list is endless tho

I'm just giving specific examples, and one has to be flexible about this

The way I wrote it up there is not law, just an illustration

Just make sure that bad behaviours do not go unpunished FROM DAY 1

You have a point, immigration is becoming very hard these days and a lot of countries are becoming intolerant of immigrants.

Many of them dont read the news

For labour shortage, the EU is looking at eastern europe not Africa

in US and Canada, they are looking at the western world and asia not Africa, canada are trying to make sure Nigerians dont come to their country.
https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2018/05/05/canada-desperate-to-stop-nigerians-from-coming-to-country/

when will africans especially Nigerians realized that every odd is against them.

you see their govt coming to Africa and sponsoring skill acquisitions training for many young people, they know what they are doing, they are preparing for the future, a future without Africans in it.

But this country you so badly want to stay and build, will you succeed?
Will Tinubu let you get to a position to make effective laws? Can you question your leaders? Will your vote actually count?

You say there's good healthcare in Nigeria.
Give me the name of Nigeria's best equipped hospitals let's open their can of worms. I worked in the health sector and I can confidently tell you that all you have is a sham. Your MoH was passing a circular in 2018 that there's an instrument called ophthalmoscope. In 2018!

Let me tell you again why we leave.
People are lawless and no one bothers. My street was constantly being blocked by a man who had connections. The residents association wrote to LASEMA but because he's a big man, we were held to ransom. I almost died having my son because
1. I called 112 and they asked if my neighbor can drive me to the street where there closest point was.
2. Baba Rich man had blocked everywhere with his trucks and no one could drive through. I was in labor, fully dilated and having a breech baby. The Royal 112 of Lagos didn't think of how I'd need a stretcher, whether I had a trained paramedic neighbor or whether I was in distress.
3. Said baby was born, but on the floor of my bathroom by inexperienced neighbors. At least they tried. I was bleeding, my daughter was watching me pass out and my husband was confused because 112 was playing their hold on music instead of actually doing what they're paid to do.
4. Said baby was jaundiced, but six hospitals, LUTH, Massey, MC&C Gbaja, OHC, Island Maternity and May clinic didn't have the capacity to start phototherapy. We had to go to Lifeline Children's hospital on Ogunlana drive. Admission deposit was N500, 000. That's what every Nigerian can afford yea?

In April of 2017, I discovered a lump in my right mammary gland. I got an appointment to see a gynecologist and them was referred to SOPD. The government hospital was going to take out the lump and cut off the body part. No tests!

I ran to a private hospital, paid through the nose to have the lump tested, taken out and I know I'm in the clear. Let me not even start with those ones that started me on cryotherapy even when my cervix was okay.

When you say you want to build a country, the country has to have a system willing to work.
I just want to know that if my daughter gets into the university, there's an expected graduation date and she can study fine arts because she feels like it, not because her slot for law was given to someone who paid but doesn't deserve it.

I think you should give everyone a chance to answer. You asked why we think we can only make it abroad, we answer and you keep attacking us and refuting facts.

My cousins and I have immigrated to different continents. Not one of us landed here and start d doing survival jobs. In my church, we have lots of professionals and white collar workers. The ones who do menial stuff are also content.

See, to each his own.
You're content with living in Nigeria.
I'm not.
Build your country for your children.
I'll do my part from here, but I need to be alive to do that. This is my humble submission.

Hey Justewise, First time I am ever getting a direct quote from you. Such an honour!

It depends on the angle you see it from. Alot of immigrants are realising how difficult it is to raise children in the West. First, your generation will loose a greater part of their African identity and some parents do regret raising their children in the West. Suffice to say that raising your children here, they risk being white-washed and loosing important virtues such as family, respect for elders, community etc. which are very important to their core-identity and mental health. Secondly, a lot of parents are now contemplating if it is worth it to raise their children in an environment where they have the tendency and fear of being racialised right from childhood till their entire life. Whereas a person raised in Nigeria is sheltered away from racism or police brutality. One of the Nigerian family I met here suggest raising kids in Singapore. An environment where they can get good education and be sheltered away from racism and drugs.

In terms of good education and health care you can definitely get them in Nigeria. There are international standard school systems in Nigeria depending on your socio-economic status. Some of the high school educational system in Nigeria pay higher tuition fees than a Canadian university, annually. You are right in terms of security, as I mentioned earlier Nigeria has a big security problem than it seems.

The Western system is built based on "extractive principle". Their system will suck 80% from you, then give you 20%. It is important to consider and weigh all options carefully. Take US., for instance, only 10% of the elites in that country owns 77% of the country's wealth. This is
a striking inequality that is worse off than Nigeria.

These international schools sir, the BIS and Loyola Jesuits, the children of those who go there are people who don't intend for them to have Nigerian degrees. Trust me.
The way they troop into our facility for medicals after A-levels.
Reason am, my guy.
These kids are not just Nigerians. They almost always have dual citizenship, or have the means to school abroad.

Should we compare the rate of misdiagnosis in the healthcare sectors?

If I ever meet you, you'll get a hug, a bowl of African salad and a massage.

You took the words out of my hands(mouth).

chigoizie7:

lol. yes, purpose comes before money, ask a young nigerian child what they want to be when they grow up and you will see sincerity in their answers, however, they remain persistent on what they want until they write jamb and they couldn't be admitted because they don't know any one or have money to bribe their way, they u will see focus and purpose change.

The few that got admitted, graduated but couldn't secure a job because they are not connected will immediately change the purpose .

na person wey 1st chop de think other things.

Every focus now lands on making money, because here in naija once u have enough money , u can get anything done.

even the ones that didn't go to formal education, has their dreams shattered because there is no support anywhere.

if I know whit assurance that once I am done school that I am going to be gainfully employed no matter the course I read. that my researches will always be funded . why wont I be calm and focused on my purposes?

I work in on of the financial institutions in naija, Nnewi precisely is where my branch is located, Nnewi is also a town where the teaching hospital is located, I interact with people because of my job. most of these medical/ nursing students are not here because of the passion for the job but because they are employable anywhere with high pay. that is what naija environment has made them to understand.

here u read medicine because u can or because u r intelligent not because u have passion for humanity
all because u wouldn't want to die of hunger.

in USA, u read medicine because of the humanity reasons or some reasons that is not entirely about the money.

in USA , u read fine and applied arts because of the passion for that.

here in NAIJA u only read fine and applied arts because that is the only department that can offer you an admission and everyone is ok with it, why? because what matters is that once u graduate, u can work in a bank even when u read hausa language provided you are well connected.

the system here is so messed up. it Is not that we dont know about purposes in life, but we cant do them on empty stomachs.

here, there is nothing like building a career. it is all about surviving first.

the only set of people that came close to having careers are teachers/lecturerers , but what kind of career would that be when a professor in mechanical engineering doesn't know what to do his car when it develops a fault or a professor in electrical engineering calls an apprentice electrician to come change bulbs in his house?

Nigerians are just looking for countries that can give them what Nigeria cant give them. Nigerians do better in a saner climes than in Nigeria.

As per racism, it's everywhere, in fact a Nigerian living here face more racism than he can face abroad.
An average Northerner is regarded as subhuman by the easterners westerners.
Even in the same east, an average Anambra man thinks he is better than the average Ebonyi man and ridicules him.

Was it not in same East, that people from one state sack other non indigenes from state civil service?

Regarding people being extracted in the west, you pay taxes and enjoy it via free education at least for high school, good security, roads, health care etc

I have accomplished more here in nigeria than abroad.

Where i did my internship i had a boss(phd holder) a nigerian who lived in the US for 25years. He was given a 4 years contract to head my department. He said what he accomplished in nigeria was more than all the years he spent in the US.

If somebody does not clean the toilet after all of you use it, will you use it again?

What is wrong with being a security man?
