There is a big difference between then and now
Towards the build up to the general election, pdp did not focus on the area of building infrastructures or implementing something, but focused more on the area of distributing dollar money and generators.
That is where you know a serious government

OK!

Its just that fuel at 145 naira per liter is too expensive coupled with high cost of virtually everything in Nigeria today.

145 is below the market and that is why there's massive subsidy eating up over a trillion naira yearly.

Kachikwu, you are not talking to babies, the fact the FGN has bit spent a dime does not mean they will not spend, is the refinery working ? No, so what exactly are you talking about, telling us how much previous government had spent is not what you promised us, the $2billion you got is it free ? No govt will have to pay back with interest which you have not mentioned.

You can do better, coming from the private sector i expected a lot from you but you seem to have disappointed us, its taking almost four to sought for money to fix the refineries because you prefer to get involved with subsidy business which is more profitable than fixing the refineries, you and your boss has failed Nigerians that is why you all will be voted out next year for someone else to try

I still don't understand how so called educated and intelligent people speak anything when it concerns Nigerian refineries.
We have left government spending monies on non functional TAM to private investors coming around to use their own monies to do it now.................Will it ever work?

That same monies that these so called invincible private investors are coming with, can't they use it to build more 4 new refineries?

Once you have these new 4 running to desired capacity then one can talk about doing any maintenance on the old ones. I keep wondering why our plans are always on short term basis just because everyone needs quick scheme money.

Gistpeeps:

Minister of State for Petroleum Resource, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu yesterday said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has not spent a dime on the country’s four refineries, an achievement not many have paid attention to.

Kachikwu said this in Abuja during a presentation of three years key achievements of the ministry and award to its staff.

Daily Trust estimates that more than N264 billion was spent on turn around maintenance of the refineries by successive governments before the present administration but the plants have failed to deliver.

The minister said all the efforts made so far to fix the refineries have been to find private investors to collaborate with government to put these refineries in order and then save government money.

“What is important is that for the first time, the president had been able to say that he would repair the refineries without government money. Nobody had been able to give attention to that,” Kachikwu said.

“No government one penny had been spent on any refinery,” he added.

“This is because every Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) that we have done in the past has always come up with stories. Wrong contracting models, wrong delivery, wrong work, and we don’t want to go that way.”

He said government’s target was to bring in private sector investors to finance the repairs of the refineries.

“NNPC have struggled to find the financiers, now financiers have finally been found but to agree on terms have been difficult. I am hoping that by the end of this year and first quarter next year we would have completed the commercial aspect of this financial undertaking which is in the excess of over $2 billion.”

Kachikwu said he would love to see a day when there would be no fuel scarcity in the country but for that to happen, the liberalization of the sector was going to be a panacea.

“As long as we continue to subsidize products, create market-unfriendly type practices, we would continue to struggle,” he said.

https://all-gists..com/2018/12/buharis-government-hasnt-spent-penny-on-refineries-kachikwu.html

There are so many wrongs in his statements.

Fine, buhari hasnt spent any dime and they are yet to conclude with financiers but it also implies that the system has not be working comparing to the fictitious statements that turn around maintanance they have been doing in the past was a lie. And NNPC mentioned a few billions allocated for it, where did those money go?

Is it not privatization in style since you want financiers because there is no way a private firm would decide maintaining your asset without them making profits....

So it took your so called integrity govt the whole of 4 years to find investors to repair already existing refineries, and they have not even agreed on the terms and conditions, and you think it is going to work out easily. The only reason you are hearing about this is because of 2019 elections. Trust this government at your own risk.

Why is the naira 370 to the dollar? If the naira was at 160 fuel will be sold at 87 naira. If you say it is because Nigerians are not productive, tell me how many primary and secondary schools this APC administration has built to improve the human capital of Nigerians. Tell me what the class size to teachers ratio is in Nigerian public schools. Keep in mind that capitalist America and communist China both provide quality education for their population so the Nigerian government has no excuse.
