No Space For Sim In Sprint Blackberry? by fischer014: 12:33pm On Aug 03, 2010
Hello Fellow Nigerians, I just received a blackberry sent to me from the US, its a sprint Blackberry Curve 8530. I seem to be confused about it as there is no space to insert a sim card, I thought there wouldn't 'cos its customized for sprint. My question is, is there a way it can be unlocked and maybe 5 use another sim that will work with it here in Nigeria?
Please Nairalanders I need ur help on this as I am in a dying need to get this smart phone rocking, an idea or a clue will also be appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.

if there's no sim card slot then its a CDMA version wich can only work wit networks like starcomms, multilinks etc; unfortunately they dont offer blackberry services undecided

thanks a bunch lynxnoon. does it mean its useless in Nigeria?
I read some article online on the possibility of converting cdma into gsm network, how true is that?
once again thanks

Your sprint BB is a CDMA phone and it is impossible to convert cos the technology and the way it processes telecom signal is fundamentally different from a GSM phone. So what you have now is a Sprint branded piece of brick.

your best bet will be to send the phone back n request for a gsm model
cos like d top poster said ,. . . .the technology is different unless the fone has both gsm n cdma, but it obviouslly doesnt since there's no sim card slot.
take care n all d best
