Spring Lake's Christ Community Church removes cross and changes its name to C3Exchange.  Is this the sign of things to come?

SPRING LAKE — A prominent Spring Lake church removed its cross Tuesday and has changed its name as part of a series of moves intended to make it more inclusive

C3Exchange, 225 E. Exchange, Spring Lake, was formerly known as Christ Community Church. The Rev. Ian Lawton, the church’s pastor, said the name change and removing the cross were designed to reflect the church’s diverse members.

“Our community has been a really open-minded community for some years now,” he said. “We’ve had a number of Muslim people, Jewish people, Buddhists, atheists. ,  We’re catching up (to) ourselves.”

Christ Community Church is a name that served this community well for over 30 years, but in recent years has been lost in translation. . . Either way it has become clear that the name Christ Community Church has become an impediment to this community evolving into what it needs to become. The time has come for a name change.

Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Most of the community submissions expressed the need to move from a narrow Christian name to something more universal and inclusive.

becos the statue is man made not [b]the Person [/b]they assume to represent. do you wonder why there were no cameras to image Him. Moulding Him will make Him like mortal men that needs to have a picture/image of him remembered thereby breaking the 1st commandment. I wish that the statues of "jesus" be destroyed and all those assumed picture of him be burned by earthquake,thunder etc.

Jesus said that we should watch and pray.  This admonition is surely needed in the body of Christ in this day and age.

The Cross though is symbolic and not to be taken literally after all, those two thieves were also on a cross. I can't contain my laughter sometimes when I see folks wearing the cross as an accessory, the Cross exists in our Hearts and not on our bodies.

Religion is a tool that divides people,is dat what christianity should be...jesus christ sat with people that the world percieved as never do wells and shared meal with them,when he was queried he told the hypocrites that he has come to save the lost.

A physical building calling itself church is not the church. This means nothing.

A Cross which is a symbol , cannot save anyone , infact we are never commanded to use symbols anywhere in the new testament.

What matters people , is a born again experience into the real CHURCH of GOD , and a total sacrifice of individual life for the purpose of GOD through Christ JESUS.

Jesus Christ is no longer on the CROSS, he is resurrected and in Heaven with the father.
