Doyin Okupe, a former aide to ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday faulted some claims by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during the presidential debate.

Okupe rubbished Osinbajo’s claim that the peoples Democratic Party, PDP, abandoned the Lagos/Ibadan expressway for 16 years.

Describing the Vice President’s claim as false, the PDP chieftain insisted that the project was 40 percent completed when the party left power.

In a series of tweets, Okupe stressed that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has rather abandoned the project for two years.

He wrote: “Lagos/Ibadan Express was abandoned for 16yrs..Osinbajo. It was 40% completed by 2014 later abandoned for 2 years by APC

“They talk about 16 years of PDP ‘misrule’. Yet 70% of APC leadership are former PDP, now getting ready for an APC misrule in 2019. STOP THEM.”

One big negative effect of removal of History as a subject from our curriculum is that most Nigerians have developed strange ALLERGY to listening to historical perspectives of our problems as a nation.

This is part of the reasons why some people believe that reference to PDP's 16 locust years is becoming monotonous. That's 16 years in a nation's life. No one can wish it away because the life of nation is a continuum.

When you neglect the history of your problem, 2 things happen.
1. You will not diagnose the problem effectively.
2. You stand the risk of suffering the problem again.

So the truth is that Nigeria is in deep "poo" today because a lot of things went wrong between 1998 and 2015.
