Land A Job In 2019: 7 Must-know Job Interview Tips by ngeresmith: 9:06am On Dec 19, 2018
I will be unveiling common job interview tips that are highly compulsory to be aware of as long as job seeking is concerned.

From career coaches, human resources and branding experts, the newest job interview musts for 2019 and beyond is what you will be encountering in the next line of paragraphs.

1. Cut Out Overused Resume Buzzword

An annual list of top 10 majorly overused “buzzword” was released in January by LinkedIn and surely these are all terms you will be smart to eradicate from your resume.

Buzzwords by their very nature are verily used as a vague displacement for more precise actionable language.

If for instance, you are elaborating on your skills concerning how experienced and smart you are and how passionate and motivated you are about specialized strategies and creativity, it is indeed wise you begin from scratch.

One famous quote from the author of Promote Yourself: The New rule For Career Sucess – Dan Schawbel is: “When everyone is using the same words, they lose meaning.”...

2. Ditch resume objectives in favor of soft skills or a professional summary.

It is essential to think that the top third of your resume is an important lacuna so think carefully on what deserves to fill this spot. If a list of old-school objectives is what you ’ve got at the top, try considering to substitute them with modern information.

Something modern being added to that top is highly critical — something like “soft skill” such as managing managers, high emotional intelligence(EQ) and more.

From analysis, 70% of hiring managers and recruiters submit that soft skills assessments are beyond doubt one of the most useful interviewing innovations, which is in alliance with a LinkedIn report of 2018.

Another choice for that top third part of your resume is, to begin with, a professional summary, preferably “a timeline to your career path” said by Weiner...

3. Watch yourself in the waiting room.

It is very important you understand that your job interview begins immediately you step foot into the building and as such, be sure to keep yourself well cautioned, monitored and checked right from the receptionist desk, through the elevator and finally when inside the waiting room with other candidates.

Don’t be engaged with your gadget for too long at a time cause; it might set you apart from other candidate says Schawbel instead build a conversation with fellow candidates in the room, because that is way better.

Something to keep in mind: be extremely kind to everyone even the least person should not be secluded from this duty because you will never know if the man or lady you met in the reception answering the phone is among the ones that will be sitting across from you, during the interview...

4. Practice a fresh answer to the age-old “weakness” question.

“What are your weaknesses?” is a very common interview query that usually put it’s victims into the pool of anxiety and getting rid of the hope of that candidate.

But on this note, I present something useful: an answer you should provide to that particular query.

Over the years then, a lot of answers has been provided to this question, but in this case, a positive and confident type of honesty is undoubtedly the best remedy for this particular problem.

Expose the weaknesses you’ve been periodically trying to improve and exert more talks on the actions you’ve taken to better yourself.

Please come through this way: answer in a way that is an attestation to your ability and also relate your shortcomings and transform them in a positive vibe.

The aim is to arrange yourself as one who is competent enough to handle tough situations and improving beyond them...

5. Take a personality quiz.

According to Nellie Morris who is the co-founder of Purpose Generation, a millennial insights and strategy firm; companies are beginning to pick interest in the personality types in relation to the workplace.

It will be nice as a candidate to go through one of the most common assessments such as Myers-Briggs personality type indicator and see for yourself where you fall.

Reflect on how your results indicate the type of workplace you thrive in or how good you are with teamwork. Personality types are now brought up in job interviews especially in industries concerning management, banking and consulting...

6. Practice interviewing via video chat.

Over the past few years, video interviews have been commonly practiced. It is estimated that in 2018, hiring managers do set up a video interview as a result of a remote candidate.

It is essential to dress good and professional even though you are not going to be present in the office; eye contact should be maintained just as you would if you were to be in the office...
