I’ve recently observed a rise in the rate of suicides in Nigeria, something considered abominable or even impossible over 10 years ago when Nigerians were said to be one of the happiest people globally.

One could easily take a guess that suicidal thoughts are the result of the economic situation of the country and personal finance, but research has shown that the reasons People commit suicide are beyond being financially broke

My question is, what are the Government and NGOs and other organizations like Religious worship places doing about helping prevent suicide in their geographic jurisdictions? When I mention government, this is beyond FG, I mean the local and state governments

I believe This issue is very important based on its prevalence in recent times, Can we discuss what’s available, what’s being planned and what could be done?

I agree with you on this. I wish someday we can actually talk about these more on air and be able to do something to really help people on the edge. Also, it seems we're yet to take depression seriously, many people see it as a weakness rather than a mental illness
