MORALS

Down the drain it's gone
The pure cloak of morals
Nobody wears it anymore
It's become food for the worms.

Babies making babies
Perverts paint it dating
Adults nourish the toilet dish
Gaping life out of the warm blood.

One leg up
A steaming one on the desk
Purity lost so easily
Everything done with no remorse

Smart is the word for the culprits
Dull for those who refrain
Ja pa goes the phrase
A mutiny against chastity.

Yet came a question in the heart:
How did we get here
How better than animals are we
When sacredness is now common sense.

Not far-fetched is it
The answer to the above:
The loss of shame and the sense of guilt
The normalization of everything as good.

And there comes the stick of evolution
The sweet song of humanity evolving
Even though evolution goes up and not down
Upgrading and never degrading.

A goat with no hair is to be pitied
Why cheer we then a girl who walks half naked?
Fashion today is in craziness
Or how does one explain crazy jeans?

A new one is even on the street
Her face hardly recognizable by any
Taking up the name of discipline
It's actually tyranny in disguise.

No one challenges her in the day
No one says a word about her
In our home, schools and workplace
She goes by the name verbal assault.

She breaks and never builds
She nags but never correct
Found in a place she shouldn't
In the mouth of our teachers and respected guardians

And there is the hydra as well
Our golden calf image built by us
A feast hold daily us in its honour
Our leaders drinking and eating to stupor.

Two limbs, four limbs I should say it doesn't matter
The difference reader is nowhere found in that
Sense of worth, composure and ethics
Are what distinguish man from animals alike

Still we are better than animals
In that we can if we want heal our ways
For these things I write dear
All and all are guilty as charged by some.

Dear Friend

Life comes hard,
So take it slow and easy.
Love comes flushing the heart,
So be strong to prevent an heartbreak.

I heard a funny clause.
It's something someone said:
Let's forget the past, he said;
But memories are there for a reason dear.

Forget not, but do well to forgive your past
Learn from it and do well to sign a peace accord
The past my dear is taunting
Only if you try denying it.

"We all have our past"
Should not be your favourite line dear
Though mistakes are inevitable
Do your best nonetheless to improve yourself.

Quality is in the taste,
So make a good character your name.
Rome is not built in a day agreed,
But no one's going to wait forever.

Learn to be quiet and not silenced
There is wisdom in being clear on things
Dark is not necessarily black
Learn the difference between humbleness and powerlessness.

Don't be the heart of the moment
That shines to fade in a giffy
Be the smile on a lovely face
The kind that stays forever in the mind.

You are unique in your own way dear,
So don't start being someone else.
The brightness of the day is lost,
Only when it tries turning into night.

Respect but never idolize anyone
There is nothing okay in being a slave
Some things in life are impossible
Do well to acknowledge your limitations.

Clarity dear is a useful tool
Your purpose cannot be unveiled without it
You can't whistle and breath simultaneously
Life is one step at a time.

"O dear, you are good in poetry."
One of the lies I'd like you not to believe.
Everyone in life seems perfect
When they do things that comes easily to them.

The sun burns brightly but die slowly
Anger does that to your self control
It's human to be angry I get
But it's not when you are all the time.

Be happy with what you are
But not always with what you have
Try to make peace with your own existence
Only then can you sincerely cherish others.
