It was gathered that the parties also want to use the zoning arrangement to woo the respective zones in the coming elections.

Chukwudi Nweje

Barely one and half months to the elections, members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are striving to perfect their zoning arrangements for some key positions in expected next government.

The presidential and National Assembly elections hold on February 16, while the governorship and state Houses of Assembly polls come up two weeks after, on March 2.

Daily Sun gathered that members of the APC and PDP are pushing for some offices to be zoned, so that each geopolitical zones in the country would know what to benefit from the incoming Federal Government from May 29, 2019.

Sources revealed that with the presidential and vice presidential candidates of the APC and the PDP already known, as well as the national chairmen of the parties, members want to know where the Senate president, deputy Senate president, Speaker of the House of Representatives, deputy Speaker and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) would come from.

Already in APC, the North West has got presidential candidate in President Muhammadu Buhari from Katsina State. The South West has vice presidential candidate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, from Ogun State and South South, national chairman in the person of Adams Oshiomhole from Edo State.

In PDP, the North East has produced presidential candidate with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from Adamawa State. South East got vice presidential candidate in the person of former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, while the South South occupies the position of national chairman with Prince Uche Secondus from Rivers State.

Sources revealed that APC members are rooting for the North Central or the South East to produce the Senate president, while the SGF be zoned to the North East, as present.

It was gathered that the fate of the South East, with regards to Senate presidency in APC depends on the zone producing senators in the elections. This, sources revealed, is why the North Central is also penciled down for the position, also, depending on whether senators would come form the zone.

In the PDP, sources revealed that the consideration is the zoning of the Senate president to North Central, which was part of the concession given to current occupier of the position, Senator Bukola Saraki. The post of SGF is being considered for the South West.

Daily Sun gathered that for the Speaker, House of Representatives, the APC is looking at conceding it to South South, while deputy speaker will go to North East. Also, the party is considering zoning deputy Senate president to South West.

In PDP, Speaker, House of Representatives is being considered for North West, while deputy speaker is penciled down for South West. Deputy Senate president is for South South.

Sources close to APC and PDP said the parties are planning to zone the offices in such a way to give all the geopolitical zones a sense of belonging.

It was gathered that the parties also want to use the zoning arrangement to woo the respective zones in the coming elections.

Since the coming of the current democratic dispensation, zoning of offices has been adopted by the parties. In 1999, the PDP zoned the office of president to South West, while vice president was zone to North East. South East occupied Senate president’s office, with North Central getting deputy Senate president. Speaker of the House of Representatives was zoned to North West and Deputy Speaker to South South.

In 2003, South West produced president, with North East still producing vice president. South East produced Senate president, while North West got Speaker House of Representatives.

In 2007, the North West produced the president, with South South getting vice president. North Central produced Senate president and South East deputy Senate president. Speaker of the House of Representatives was zoned to South West.

In 2015, South South produced the president, with North West getting vice president. North Central produced Senate president and South East deputy Senate president. North West got speaker, House of Representatives by default, with South East producing deputy Speaker also by default.

In the current government, North West has president, with South West producing vice president. North Central is occupying the position of Senate president, by default, with South East getting deputy Senate president, also, by default. North West is occupying the post of Speaker, House of Representatives, also, by default.

If the demonic APC like, they can zone all their positions to Niger or Chad, it won't stop PDP from defeating them next month.

The VP debate, Where Osibande was thoroughly defeated and shamelessly dragged on the floor like a common thief by Obi, is just a tip of the iceberg.

I just pray the lifeless one will not stylishly escape the debate.

God bless the PDP.

Good one. But what about other parties? In reality Nigeria is only a two-party state. The other parties are just there for their number alone. Why can's they coalesce to a formidable force and boot out the two Siamese twins of Nigerian polity?

The first ladder to our victory is that, no presidential aspirant will win his or her state except president Buhari.
You can take this to the bank and keep it..

I keep advice youths to stop taking Codeine And Tramadol but they refused.

For Clarity sake ọ biko. South South is not in power now. North should take responsibility for their failure for once instead of blaming South. As if we are their God

The best thing that will happen to any Political Party in this country is to zone the president to South East. If it's not in your manifesto, you have got it all wrong.

Wait a minute, the South Easterners are expectant in 2023 after President Buhari while Osibanjo is giving South West hope of getting it on 2023.

What's actually going on?

Speak for yourself dear, I travelled some weeks ago and Lo and behold I saw infrastructural development everywhere, if all previous governments did it this way, Nigeria would have been more developed than what we have now. Go out and check too. I'm still going to vote for pmb for what he's doing. The dude is trying, I give it to him

PDP should not zone any position to south west simply because we don't interested. If PDP still thinking they will win presidential election in Nigeria again, that mean they have a long way to go.

Re: APC, PDP Perfect Zoning Ahead Of Elections by TIMOTHYspecial: 10:03am On Jan 02, 2019
Nigeria is crazy
Truth is that collectively we are going no where
Everybody must rise individually and fight for himself

In a sane country, Opposition parties in Nigeria don't need to campaign to oust this hungry and deadly blood suckers away from government

Some people in an attempt to secure thousands of acres of land for their kinsmen released mayhem on farmers in order to justify their demand
Do we need to tell people in Benue, Plateau, Kogi, Kwara, Nassarawa, not to Vote APC?

They voted for this party in 2015, they have experienced change beyond imagination, why shld we convince them again not to vote APC?
Let them vote for whatever they feel is right... Who will lose eventually and who is losing?

Somebody said Nigerian youths are lazy, shutdown our schools for the past two months with no remorse on a way forward, do we need to tell Nigeria undergraduates and educated, not to vote APC?

A lot of Nigerians lost jobs in 2016, 2017 due to a poor economic policy that led to recession, a lot of companies shutdown, rendering a lot of employed/underemployed youths jobless and hopeless, adding to the number of jobless youths increasing at an alarming rate. Do we need to convince these people not to vote Buhari again? Do we need to tell MAN note to choose APC?
NLC, ASUU, still need conviction on who to support?

Borno, Yobe, Zamfara is presently on fire, bandits, Boko Haram have destroyed virtually every good thing existing in those places, rendering many homeless, hopeless with a lot of our gallant soldiers killed, due to lack of weapons, inadequate funding and corruption by our service chiefs, yet the President has not taken any major step. What we hear now, is deploration of the Nigeria Army all over the country for elections. Anybody needs to tell the good people of Zamfara, Yobe, Borno, not to vote Buhari again?

Everybody shld go to the poll and choose their leader in 2019.. Whatever happens eventually, we accept it? Sell your vote to highest bidder, enjoy the moment.. But remember, their is a price to pay
Some of the prices we are paying for our indecision in 2015 includes:
Recession
Hunger
Inflation
Fuel hike
Insecurity
Kidnapping
Bandits
Fulani Herdsmen
Marginalization
Unemployment
Poor education
Bad governance
Harassment
Lawlessness
Unlawful detention
Nepotism
Corruption
Homelessness
Depression

Today, basic things in the market, are not affordable. Kerosene, gas, rice, beans etc are very expensive..

What was Buhari' contribution to the entertainment industry? Yet, secured their endorsement.
Where was Buhari in 2015 2016 2017, when we had fuel scarcity
Election year is around, suddenly scarcity disappeared
Where was Osinbajo in 2016, 2017 during recession when there was a crazy hunger, to distribute #10000, launch market Moni and house to house visitation?
Suddenly 2018 became the year of infrastructure. We did not need infrastructure in 2015, 16 or 17?

Go ahead and vote whatever you desire in 2019, but remember, There is a price to pay......
