Former Abia State Governor and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has expressed his determination to make the Igbere Cultural Festival one that will attract interest from all over the world.

He also noted that the festival, which is the second edition is aimed at showcasing the rich culture of the Igbere people and that of the neighbouring communities.

The APC senatorial candidate for Abia North made this known at the Igbere Cultural Festival he hosted at his country home in Bende local government, adding that the event was also in line with President Muhammadu Buhari's drive of diversifying the economy through culture as well as a means of generating income.

According to the ex governor, "in five years time, Igbere will be the centre if carnivals in Nigeria, foreigners will be coming here. Then we would have built good hotels and destination sites that will attract them.

This culture will be sustained and will be used to drive unity and oneness among our people."

Also speaking, the All Progressives Congress candidate for Abia North and South Federal Constituency, Mascot Uzor Kalu, his Bende federal constituency counterpart, Barr. Ben Kalu, noted that the festival will help revive the ailing Igbo culture which is fast losing weight.
