I applied for family reunion visa February 2022 Appointment date April 2023/ done with my appointment Still waiting for the lawyer call *** I have a question ❓ ***** I'm married to a full German citizen, white lady, she is currently on parental leave away from job, the state/ job center pays her every month, my question is this going to affect my visa application chances❓ sometimes last year we reached out to a lawyer in Germany with the same question and he told us that since my wife is a full German citizen their is no need to prove maintenance security since she is a German, we also did our research online, we got the same response. Please house has anyone had the same experience or knowledge on this ? Please reach out thanks so much |

Annette40dav: Woah!...Why is it taking so long? Did you do verification and have you got the verification complete email? Your spouse can try to contact ABH in Essen, usually the foreign authority replies emails. 1 Like |

Hello dear, I am in Essen and we did family Reunion visa here. In our case it took around 1 or maximum 2 Weeks. Your spouse in Germany should write or send them a Mail/ letter enquiring the stand of things, stating that you haven't been updated yet by the Embassy inNigeria. By God's grace they will reply you soon. Annette40dav: |

But by now you should have left for Germany already na. That's a long time since you have been processing. I think you need to reach out to the embassy to know why there is a delay. My own appointment was December 2022, and lawyer already did verification. I Don dey pray for verification complete email like this o. Someone even posted here that he/she did interview March 2022, and he already left this March 2023 Please check with the embassy , send email |

Bonn2007:Since you live in Germany, you should Atleast know better that things takes time, I advise the poster to be patient, while her husband can only send mails or call them after each time. I have been waiting for an appointment for PR for more than 3 months. The times you had yours was probably before the war started between Russia and Ukrain, since those times, appointments takes longer in most offices. However, Essen is a city filled with lots of foreigners adding to the fact that they are under employed, these are some of the reasons for delays. Good luck to everyone waiting. 2 Likes |

nuel80: Completely agree. Meanwhile the government keeps coming up with new “immigration reforms” instead of fixing the horrible resident permit processes in the auslanderbehorde all over the country. In this age, refusing to digitalize the process or find a lasting solution is embarrassing. Imagine waiting 3 months for PR appointment? Ridiculous |

Wow, why is yours taking so long. You did interview since March 2022 and this is june 2023,more than 1year after interview God abeg oo🙏 Contact the or rather disturb the embassy and let your spouse also contact ABH and that other office,I can't remember their name. That's a long time. Did you do verification and if yes has it been completed? |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Bonn2007: 4:41pm On Jun 25, 2023 |
My dear irrespective of the war the poster's spouse in Germany doesn't loose anything in enquiring from the Foreign office in Essen via Email or Letters. At times applying a little bit of pressure is recommendable, so they up their game. Didn't you read where he/she said the whole silence is affecting him/her mental state? Your waiting for PR appointment is a totally different thing and its up to you what you do about that. nuel80: 1 Like |

As someone rightly advised, send them an email or call directly and ask if you know who is handling the file, you can even ask to speak to the person, it takes about 2 weeks usually, it is also possible that Lagos Embassy has already been notified without your knowledge, as in some cases the ABH will not inform your spouse that they have already sent approval to the Lagos Embassy. In your mail, remember to mention the date you sent the documents and I will suggest your spouse also attach a scanned copy of each document to the mail in addition should they have any issue with the previous ones. Good Luck Annette40dav: |

Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by FrauPosh: 12:54pm On Jun 27, 2023 |
Babbbbbbbbby: Not at all o. First week of next month will make it exactly six months. Na to just kuku forget. I called the embassy, the man that responded said I can not control how the lawyer does his job. That the lawyer can choose how he wants to do my verification. He can choose where to start. He can choose to start from my various educational institutions. That the fact he hasn't visited me yet does not mean the verification process has not started. That visitation is just one of the process. My sister I just rest. When I get so anxious I read your experience and get some strength to keep waiting. What to do? 🥺😟 The waiting is real. I have never waited in silence 🤐 for anything as long as this in my life. I hope your process with ABH will go speedily too Thanks for asking.🙏🙏 |

Please house, is 3 months of Insurance accepted by the Embassy for the Family Reunion Visa? |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by nuel80: 2:06pm On Jun 27, 2023 |
Atopet: It’s completely fine. Even 2 months is enough. Your spouse must have added you to their insurance before now. |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by nuel80: 2:13pm On Jun 27, 2023 |
Bonn2007: Just so you understand what I’m trying to say, you can call a million times, send a thousand email, or even write a billion letter to their post box, those people take their time, and they operate on a first come first serve basis, only on exceptional cases, of course they don’t see these applications as urgent. Now take a look at these calendars, the only available days you are seeing are in July with dates underlined, every other dates are not available, the last time I check, most of the now available dates in July was not available, I guess some persons may have canceled or changed appointment date. On a normal work day, these people goes on break by 12 and resume by 3pm, August is even the worse month as majority of them have gone for holidays, (dem no send you), the only few remaining staffs continue work with pace. They won’t let you even pressure them. The earlier you understand this, the easier your peace. Otherwise you will just be getting agitated unnecessarily. Again, good luck guys.

FrauPosh:It's well dear, you'd hear from the lawyer soon. I know exactly how you feel. I'm yet to get verification complete email. As for ABH, when we called them some time in February, my husband was told that the preapproval was sent in January and our case with them and the embassy had been completed and closed but i have seen some people write here that the preapproval is valid for 3months. I dunno what going to happen but just to keep being patient. This process has been emotionally and mentally draining. 1 Like |

Hello, we are planning to contact the Embassy for appointment for my wife to submit her visa application. Please is it possible I use my visa in place of Residence Permit? I'm yet to get my Residence Permit, in fact, I have not been given an appointment. In order to save time, I was thinking we could use my visa since it is also a form of residence permit although for temporary period. Is this possible? Thank you. |

Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by bamsz: 10:06am On Jun 30, 2023 |
justt: The first step is to book appointment online, it now takes approximately 14months to get a date, you don't need any document to book the appointment, just your wife's passport number, date of birth and email address. You can as well try your luck by sending emails to the embassy, at least book an appointment date first! |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Mopricelezz(f): 11:04am On Jun 30, 2023 |
justt: She needs just her passport number and details to book an appointment. Appointment takes about 14 months. I am very sure by the time she'd be invited, you would have gotten your residence permit. So stop delaying and take the first step of booking an appointment. |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by justt: 11:07am On Jun 30, 2023 |
Thank you for your responses @bamsz and Mopricelezz We already booked an appointment. We are only trying to get the needed documents ready for her visa application. Yes, she has not been given an appointment date but we are hopeful she will get one soon but since I don't have the RP yet, and possibly may not get it before her appointment date, I thought my visa would suffice for now. bamsz: |

Hi FrauPosh and indeedevery other person who might be able to shed some light on my question. I am aware that some persons do not have to go through the verification process, while other do. So the question now is: How do they select those that needs to be verified and how do they select those that dont require the verification step. Thank you in advance :-) FrauPosh: |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by FrauPosh: 10:42pm On Jun 30, 2023 |
onyeka84: If your spouse is a DAAD scholar or is a Blue Card holder then there will be no verification. |
