Can I do that myself or have to visit a vet?
That's where she is for now, can I open for her to roam or still keep her there blocked?
Re: Local Breed Nation by johnnyn1(m): 1:36pm On Jan 05, 2019
OP pls deworm the dog..
Re: Local Breed Nation by iyanuakin(m): 1:41pm On Jan 05, 2019
Will go to the Vet today for that or can I do it myself?
Re: Local Breed Nation by Nobody: 1:59pm On Jan 05, 2019
iyanuakin:Anyone you want, you can either take her to the vet for deworning injection or you can buy deworming pills for her then crush them and mix it with milk for her to drink.
Re: Local Breed Nation by OtyandTheFangs: 2:11pm On Jan 05, 2019
iyanuakin:Its your choice. But no matter your decision, you gotta have a vet on standby just in case of any sick-feeling.
iyanuakin=:Not yet brotha, we wouldn't want her running off would we?
Let her get accustomed to that boundary(its spacious, weldone)
Then after a few weeks, let her have a view of the entire environment. Stay with her to notice everything she does(picking bone scraps, licking dirt water, trying to run off or any other thing)
Then correct her subtly and show her the right thing to do.
If she tries to run off, brotha you'll have to put her back in that restricted space so that you can build a better relationdhip with her. After you notice she has gotten acquianted with you and her boundary, you can then bring her out again.
p.s Not all local dogs are meant to be treated as local
Let her stay indoor as a pet yunno

Re: Local Breed Nation by iyanuakin(m): 7:35am On Jan 06, 2019
Morning guys, took Cookie to the vet for deworming yesterday, got home and gave her pap with milk, tried the noodles too but she didn't eat them, but she took the pap, she actually poo twice last night, and been making a lot of noise and still making it...she adventurous cos she climbed the barrier in used in blocking the balcony
Re: Local Breed Nation by Nobody: 1:21pm On Jan 06, 2019
iyanuakin:It's normal, her appetite will come back tommorow, some dogs usually loose their appetite for a day after deworming.
Re: Local Breed Nation by iyanuakin(m): 1:45pm On Jan 06, 2019
Will keep alternating btw rice, pap, and noodles
Re: Local Breed Nation by iyanuakin(m): 6:11pm On Jan 06, 2019
And cookie does not like staying at the balcony, she's always shivering, had to open the kitchen door for her and she likes lying on the cloth rag in the kitchen..I'm worried about the way she shivers outside

Kindly suggest a deworming pill. Thanks
Re: Local Breed Nation by Nobody: 10:19pm On Jan 06, 2019
JAccksnow:Not familiar with their names, just go to any vet clinic and ask for the pills, they will give you the best that they have got.
Re: Local Breed Nation by iyanuakin(m): 11:01pm On Jan 06, 2019

Re: Local Breed Nation by iyanuakin(m): 11:02pm On Jan 06, 2019
I was told she was littered late November
Re: Local Breed Nation by abdulazeez1002(m): 8:19am On Jan 07, 2019
iyanuakin:Wow. But is it that the local breeds are that big??
Re: Local Breed Nation by OtyandTheFangs: 11:47am On Jan 07, 2019
iyanuakin:Like the usual bath soap? Yh, you can
Some of the bath soaps you use can always be used as substitutes for the dog shampoo(but this is better since it is made specifically for dogs).
Re: Local Breed Nation by OtyandTheFangs: 12:26pm On Jan 07, 2019
JAccksnow:I usually suggest Wormreed or Pyramoate and Ivermectin(also kills lungworms and tapes too)
The normal wormin500 too.
The common deworming pill you'll see in pet stores are Prazi Wormer and Abendazole Bolus
Prazi Wormer as an harsh effect on dogs especially those above 10kg. From plenty experience, I noticed that any dog that is given this pill usually have either an upsetting stomach or weak feeling or looses appetite for a long duration of time (I'm not affirming that your dog might, infact your dog could be exceptional from this. But on most of the dogs have noticed, it gives an harsh effect).
Abendazole: Not that effective, tried it couple of times and yet
I was told all these theories by a real real experienced vet infact the NDA co-ordinator in Nigeria(some of you might know him, google will help too). So I tried it out and saw they were true.
It could be different for your dogs
Re: Local Breed Nation by Jungpablo: 1:43pm On Jan 07, 2019
JAccksnow:prazisam, zerokrim, drontal plus etc
Re: Local Breed Nation by JAccksnow(m): 6:04pm On Jan 07, 2019
Guys, thanks for the input.
Re: Local Breed Nation by abbeg(m): 12:50am On Jan 08, 2019
pls don't start bathing it too soon.Allow its fur to grow.My vet suggested 2months.And try not to bathe it too often. It can cause scanty fur. Also try to give it as much animal protein as possible now.At around say 9 months to 1yr you can tone it down. But now it needs as much protein as it can get to grow big and healthy.Rice and pap won't keep up with its big size.
I would advise chicken intestines and parts mixed with unseasoned indomie or rice. But no garri. Its unhealthy.Very cheap and plenty. And congrats on your new friend!

Pls my dog is not eating what can I do about that she is very slim
Re: Local Breed Nation by iyanuakin(m): 11:22pm On Jan 11, 2019
Thanks for this, yes got this noodles that's mixed with crayfish and co, and I've been given her fish...she hardly eat rice or spaghetti, even milk inside water she hardly takes them...kinda confused
Re: Local Breed Nation by abbeg(m): 12:04am On Jan 12, 2019
phemolala07:Have you tried deworming? and also check for toothache and if it's teething. They usually dont eat well when they are teething.
