The Alliance for Democracy (AD) lost over 6000 of their members to Action Democratic Party in Oyo Federal Constituency over the weekend.

The defectors were led by a state executive member of AD, Mr. Ajibesin Samuel; the AD Chairman in Oyo West LGA, Mr. Fatai Lamidi Adeyemi; the AD Chairman in Atiba LG, Mr Sulaiman Iyiade Adeoye; the chairman of AD in Afijio LG, Com. Olalekan Adedeji; and the chairman of AD in Oyo East LG, Mr. Isa Jamiu. They were welcomed to ADP in a rally held in Oyo town on Sunday.

Mr. Ajibesin disclosed that they defected to their new party because of ADP’s ideology of togetherness and the integrity of key figures in the party. He said that Otunba Alao-Akala must lead ADP to victory in the upcoming elections as the APC's style of governance has impoverished the people of the state.
