Police operatives attached to Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad (FSARS), Awkuzu has arrested three young men suspected to be behind the robbing and killing of one Ifeanyi Nwanga in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.



According to SP Haruna Mohammed, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, who disclosed this via a police diary, the suspects, Chimezie Aronu, Uchenna Obiora and Chibuike Omankwu, were arrested at Ire village, Ogidi in Idemili Local Government Area at about 4 am.



Mohammed disclosed that while the late Ifeanyi Nwanga was shot and killed around 4:30 pm on Friday, the FSARS operatives were able to trace and accost them at around 4 am, the next day, less than 24 hours later. It was also disclosed that the trio were aged 22, 18 and 20 years respectively and have confessed to the crime as well as shown the police where they hid their weapons.



“They have confessed to the crime and also led the Police to the place where they hide the weapon used in perpetrating the dastardly act.



“Exhibit recovered from the suspects included one cut to size single barrel gun and one cartridge,” he said.



The PPRO said that the case is under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.





In the same vein, following intelligence report, Police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Cult unit arrested one Chidioke Chinedu in Enugu Ukwu, Njikoka LGA of Anambra State.



Mohammed said that Chinedu was arrested with a stolen motorbike which himself and his gang members previously robbed from their victim.



He also said that the police was still carrying out investigation on the case adding that “effort is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices in order to bring them to Justice.”
