GB WhatsApp is the popular modified version of WhatsApp that many people tend to use these days because it offers more features than the Official WhatsApp application. You may be wondering why you should stop using GB Whatsapp in 2019 , well I’ll be explaining that in this post.

Let’s assume that close to where you live there are hungry wolves in the forest. Not that you’ve personally seen them when you’ve gone into the woods, but you’ve constantly heard them howl at night, and also heard stories of people being killed by them. There are safe paths, with some guards, that go through the woods.

The wolves rarely go through these paths, then there are those that are less sure and may have a lot of wolves. Which do you choose?

GBWhatsApp is not “safer” than the official product and that means there is risk. What type of risk?

There is no Privacy for one and as such you won’t find GB Whatsapp in the Google Play Store because it didn’t pass the security tests and also because it’s a clone app. I know we all love customization but how would you feel if you wake up one day and see that all your conversations have been posted somewhere online?

Also, if you use any other app for using Whatsapp other than the official app, there is a high chance that your security will be compromised. Whatsapp uses end to end encryption, i.e the sender and receiver can only read the messages because only they have the key. There have been unverified reports about the developers of the app adding malicious codes to the app and also there’s a high chance they’re gathering your data without you even knowing.

Now there are basic things the developers could have added to this –

1.A KeyLogger – so that everything you type will be stored in their server.
2.With banks starting to have transaction support on whatsapp they may keep track of your online transactions via your phone and they may copy those keystrokes of your data to clone your card.
3.Anything you send or receive will definitely not have end to end encryption like the original WhatsApp, and developer can receive the private data including image and videos.
4.They have access to read your SMS, they can receive the OTP as well.
5. Your memory card access is also there, so you definitely don’t have any privacy on that device at all

Also come to think of it , Just think about this –

Why does any developer put his/her continuous effort to develop an unofficial modified version of WhatsApp violating all of the copyright policies of the official application?

Why would anyone give you all those awesome looking features for free?

If he/she wanted to put his time and effort to build a separate new messaging platform like whatsapp with a lot of extra features and customization along with personalization options he/she easily could do that which of course eventually might have the potential to be one of the most downloaded and one of the most popular user friendly messaging applications in the world/

Nobody does something like that without any thing in mind so in this case, as no one knows the source code, there is a huge possibility that the privacy of users are being compromised every single moment. There is never something totally free without something behind it.

Immediately you install GB Whatsapp, you have already given the developer permission to access more or less each and every data of your smartphone, along with lot of sensitive information.

There is totally no assurance that the developer is not continuously spying on the daily activities you usually do with your smartphone. The day he decides to mess with the data he can easily do that because the users already gave him permission to,

I still agree that GB whatsapp still provides a lot of extra useful features but is it worth exchanging your entire online privacy and data including your contacts info, personal chats, messages, voice notes, gallery, camera, GPS locations, account information, call history just for the sake of using a single unofficial application.

Finally I need you to understand this

Whatsapp is not an open-source platform – This means that nobody can just simply copy and paste the code by making a few changes and launch it as a separate product. Such apps are cloned and might steal your information by adding some extra few extra lines of code.

You’ll soon get banned – Some of my friends have reported to me that their account has been banned by official Whatsapp for using some of these apps. WhatsApp is also going to try to implement ads on their platform this year as a way to generate revenue and the developers of these cloned apps may try to stop these ads from working on their own modded versions and the only way Whatsapp can successfully run their ad platform without any glitches might be banning these other cloned apps and its users.

Be it GBWhatsApp , YoWhatsApp , APCWhatsApp , PDPWhatsapp or any unofficial Whatsapp app stay away from it.
