So here’s 3 things that should get you dusting up your CV for the next available at this lovely coy:

1. Flexi-hour
You heard right, flexible work hours. Allianz Nigeria is the first and the only company in Nigeria to have this as a work policy – or at least, they are the only one we know. Employees can choose to resume as early as 7am or as late as 10am provided they put in the required 8 hours of work (plus a 1-hour lunch break) and voila! You’re done for the day. So if you resume by 7am, you can hit the road by 4pm and play a fast one on the Lagos traffic where their Head Office is actually. We had a few worries about this as per Naija way. Like, won’t some fellow resume by 10am and close by 4pm?

“We really don’t care. For us it’s substance over form”, explains Owolabi Salami, Executive Director at Allianz Nigeria. “We trust our people to do right thing even when no one is watching, and for the past two years our people have made us absolutely proud of the decision to make flexible work hours a company policy”, he beamed on.

2. Traditional attire, everyday
Okay, this is a big one here. Their dress code policy states simply that Ankara/wool/cotton attires are acceptable modes of dressing during the week. Their HR Manager, Ifeleke Aboyeji says they want their people to ‘dress the culture’. The employees really look smart and rich (LOL) sporting their Atiku to work on Mondays or any other weekday. This will definitely help financial planning as you don’t need a separate set of sleeves for work

3. Benefits/Remuneration
In saner climes, this shouldn’t even make the shortlist – this should be a given. But hello? This is Nigeria in Falz voice. You will be shocked how many reputable companies owe their employees’ salaries for months in a row, in blatant violation of extant labor laws. With unemployment rate at 23%, employers believe that if you nor fit stay, you waka dey go. Millions will happily fill the vacancy anyway. Not so at Allianz Nigeria where the policy is to pay salaries on the same day each month. Where the day falls on a weekend or public holiday, payout is the working day immediately before. One employee there says that the biggest worry is that the salary will come too soon, never late.

What about you? What is the coolest workplace you know?
