Greetings to anyone reading this, please pardon my grammatical errors as I bare my heart in this write up. We live in a down floor flat in a three storeyed building and as you know how most compounds in Surulere is without space, ours is surrounded by other tall buildings so to get fresh air especially at night is zero possible.
The state Government has not been forthcoming with pipe borne water these days despite knowing how important water is to human life, the power supply company are making it harder too, you go to bed at night, you won't sleep well due excess heat, you won't see water to at least bath throughout the night to keep cool till morning.
This has been going on in our area in Surulere around Itire/Ishaga. Last night, I thought I was going to die oh God!! We have generator set but the engine is very faulty and very expensive to repair besides, we can't be spending money on fuel on daily basis coupled with the fact that there are other expenses at home to run.
Last night, I was awake till 3am dot, I kept fanning myself and sweating profusely, at a point, I felt I was loosing my breath, I stood up, laid down, sat down, I did everything I could to feel OK but to no avail, my hand was aching me too.
I slept off for about 12minutes only to suddenly jerk up from bed and feel sweat running down my face and body like a cup of water was poured on me hmm.. The mattress was soaked at different sections and I couldn't lie down on it again. The one that scared me most was that I observed that fluid came up into my mouth from my stomach and I rushed to go and spill it out, dehydration too, I kept drinking water and trying to stay alive.
By exactly 3am dot, they brought the light, I wasn't feeling happy because there was no morale for excitement anymore but I finally managed to sleep off, i woke up again as they took it by past 4 again till now. I sleep by 3 or 4 almost every night and I am feeling frustrated. I felt I should share it, I am tired, God please help me, I am always scared once the night approaches on daily basis.. The Government should help the masses with light and water for healthy living.
If Ur interested I can give you temporary accommodation. Whenever you feel clustered, just go outside.
I feel your plight, naija situation can be tough.

Mine is cold. In Jos here, man pickin could not sleep because of cold. I wrapped myself with thick blanket yet, it was so chilly. The only good thing here is that all the mosquitoes are dead this period.

You people are getting the result of what you voted for in 2015.....I remember this time 2015 most people were shouting Sai baba up and down. Here we are today nothing is working in Nigeria
yes buhari was in power when I was in luth as a patient in April 2015 and heat posed a greater threat to my survival than the gunshot wound I was struggling to heal from.

as a student in the same CMUL, heat because of light out was a big head to us between 2007 and 2011. let's blame buhari for that too!!!

..... and @ chocolateme......

...what can help.... for heat... hot air will rise....it will be cooler if you sleep on the floor... the higher off the floor the hotter it will be. Mosquitoes...... spraying the room is not good.... you will also be breathing in the insecticide which can cause cancer later in life. I suggest you get neem leaves... crush and soak in oil /water...rub on your skin...I'll guarantee you mosquitoes or any insect will flee from you. Neem is a natural insect repellant.
wer can i get neem leave

Very very cold sef

Seriously? Anyway, I still don't envy their cold because everything in the north is extreme. Extreme cold, extreme heat, extreme flood, extreme everything.

I live in Abuja, but grew up in Lagos. Last two weeks I visited Lagos. Can u imagine from Mushin, thru Surulere to the start of Third Mainland Bridge. I was struggling to count trees, there were almost none. Compare that with Abuja say Garki n Wuse. Now add this to the altitude of Abuja, u can imagine d coolness most part of the year. Please try n relocate. For me, am never going to live in Lagos again.

I read this post yesterday and experienced it this morning to the extent that I had to sleep on the floor. The power distribution guys are not helping the situation at all.

Lagos is just a dump. Told myself long ago I won't wanna settle down in such chaotic state. How can one's life span no reduce with such stress?

Nobody who wants to remain sane should live in Lagos.
Same thing I told myself about 4years ago,... I'll never live in Lagos... Until an unfortunate circumstance brought me here

This place is whack
I used to say "people in Lagos need psychiatric evaluation" ... I've been here for 2years and 5months , I'm yet to go for a psychiatric evaluation!

lol yours is just heat. Mine is heat and mosquitoes. I almost cried two nights ago. If we don’t have light at night, I always feel depressed. I had to spray my room around 2am when I couldn’t take it any more. The heat too was unbearable. I just tire for this country

Heat, plus mosquitoes plus darkness, plus cocroaches plus rats... and you say Buhari should be reelected.

Hmmmm. Most people voted for him simply because of the promises he/party made, of which most people forgot that you can't give what you don't have

With laptop and internet, you can't work in an oip company, with laptop and internet, you can't be at the pinnacle of Naijas entertainment nationally.

Lagos has and will still have several benefits. Thats why i said 'its great for advancement in one's career'

Make no mistake, the people you'll meet in Lagos will motivate you, the minds you'll rub with in Lagos will further your knowledge. It's one of the advantages of a place so diverse

It's the time of the year, make sure you drink plenty of water. Also try and get rechargeable fans to reduce the heat.
Rechargeable fans don't work, you will charge them for 24hrs but they will only work for 2 hours. Afterwords they stop working completely without electricity even after you charge them.

Depends on the battery strength, it can go up to five hours with a few hours charge. Up to 10 hours when well charged.
what's the name of the one you use.
