VolvoS60:

Surprising that it wasn't muzzled.

Hyenas may have a reputation for being 'cowardly' but they have the strongest jaws among mammals - a bite force strong enough to make short work of elephant bones.

Those people would do well to steer clear or things could take a very different turn from what they planned. Keeping a wild hyena on a leash with its jaws free - and having humans standing just yards away isn't a good idea.
Northerners respect them. They teach that you dont mess with those creatures

In a developed country, wild animals found on the street are returned to their natural habitat, but in Nigeria they are taken to the police station, yep makes perfect sense.

shocked These people need to be watchful. Anywhere you see hyenas wandering, lions are not too far away.

There was commotion this evening in Kura local government area of Kano state after a Hyena was spotted roaming the streets.

The carnivoran mammal which was captured by some of the brave residents, was tied up after hours of struggle on the road.

Frightened residents gathered in their numbers to see the animal which created a huge scene in the area.

According to online reports, the animal was later dragged to the police station by the residents.

I most they won't arrest the hyena...
More importantly, I hope they'll be reasonable people to suggest taking it to zoo!

It’s a normal thing in the north

It’s called kura
it's not a normal thing when they roam the streets, it probably ran away from the owner, they usually do street circus with them for entertainment.
