There was commotion this evening in Kura local government area of Kano state after a Hyena was spotted roaming the streets.

The carnivoran mammal which was captured by some of the brave residents, was tied up after hours of struggle on the road.

Frightened residents gathered in their numbers to see the animal which created a huge scene in the area.

According to online reports, the animal was later dragged to the police station by the residents.

In a sane society, the animal was supposed to be dragged to a wildlife conservation and not a police station. For what nah!!!

Why was it taken to the police station? Hope it wasn't under suspicion of being either a witch or a mugger.

When will you South Africans expose yourselves? no wonder the whites are still colonizing you. Loitering animals especially dangerous ones are usually arrested like this in all civilized climes

What do you know about sanity? Go and read more, this is how dangerous loitering animals are handled in any sane clime, it's police that will forward to appropriate designation, they did well.

And the aboki have you guys by the cojones, so I'd shut your stupid mouth if I were you. This is not about South Africa vs Nigeria, like you're trying to make it out to be. There's no harm in questioning strange conduct. No, wild animals are usually not taken to the police station like common thugs grin That's not the standard procedure anywhere. Perhaps your definition of "civilized" needs a little updating, village girl.

I have passed through this local govt before, close to Bauchi boundary. They really have lots of hyenas there and the locals roam around with it tied with a chain to their hand.

The hyena is the original owner of that territory, Kura. The human beings there should be sued for trespassing

God gave human beings domination of the earth, not hyenas.

Your knowledge is limited. Who told you polics handle such cases. Are police trained to handle wildlife? There are trained wildlife handlers in the conservation unit who are responsible for such. Go and increase your learning before venturing into what you know nothing about

This is what exactly happened, Hyena is Hausa is called Kura, The man in red is the owner of the Hyena, he hails from Malumfashi Katsina State, He was invited by Movie directors in Kano for a scene, the scene supposed to be, A girl would shout and scream because her Sister was been transformed to A Hyena, as she does that, it caught the attention of people around where they pounce on the owner of the Hyena, beat him up on the process of doing so they Hyena ran away, The man is presently at the Gwale police station for interrogation

Hyena Coward?
U don't know about hyenas my friend.

^^^
I do sir. Perhaps not as much as you but I do know a little. Note that I enclosed the word 'cowardly' in parentheses.

Hyenas (when in packs) compete directly with lions for prey, sometimes seizing their kills and running them out of an area. That definitely requires stoutness of heart. (And large numbers also help too.)

But hyenas (when alone or in pairs) have also been observed to be unusually reluctant to attack potential prey when such prey display the slightest signs of aggression - perhaps because the 'prey' were dangerous predators too. There's a widely circulated video of an injured African wild dog taking on a lone hyena - with the hyena inexplicably backing down, despite the dog's severe leg injuries.

Solitary cheetahs and Leopards (despite being at a great size disadvantage compared to hyenas) have also been known to run hyenas out of town (in a one on one situation). Again the crucial factor is the number of hyenas - you can imagine the story would be very different if the entire hyena pack was in the mix.
