DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2019 (ST. SIMON AND ST. JUDE) THEME: LOVE ONE ANOTHER BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 15:17-27 17. These things I command you, that you love one another. 18. “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23. He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. 25. But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’ 26. “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning. JOHN 15:17-27 NKJV GUIDE TEXT One Christian writer once said that love is not just one of the characteristics of the Kingdom of God; it is in fact the OXYGEN of the Kingdom. Just as every living being needs oxygen to survive, so also love must be regarded as the life of the Kingdom. But it is love as defined by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and not by the World. The love which the Lord mandated His disciples to show is the one that is selfless. It is sacrificial and without hypocrisy. Christians must love as Christ Himself loved them (John 15:12). Jesus Christ was sending His apostles out into a world that was full of darkness and hatred, a world in which men hate the truth and everything else that reveals the darkness of their hearts. And this ugly situation is even worse today. But the message of the Kingdom must be preached by the Church (Christians) who are distinguished by love, and who must be united in their mission. Otherwise, the body of believers and their witness would sooner or later be destroyed or rendered totally ineffective; and souls that would have been saved would be lost eternally. Dear reader, does it often bother you that in many Churches and fellowships today, leaders and members are at daggers drawn - quarrelling and tearing each other apart? Would you not sincerely spend more time praying for the Church for which Christ died? PRAYER: Lord, let there be love shared among us and let it fill our nation, in Jesus Name. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2019 THEME: BEWARE OF FALSE TEACHERS! BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 1:1-11 1. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope, 2. To Timothy, a true son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 3. As I urged you when I went into Macedonia— remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4. nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. 5. Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, 6. from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, 7. desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm. 8. But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, 9. knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10. for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, 11. according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust. I TIMOTHY 1:1-11 NKJV GUIDE TEXT There are two very important lessons to learn from this passage. The first is about the relationship between the Apostle Paul and his spiritual son, Timothy. Although Paul was the one who converted Timothy, Paul never turned his attention as a mentor, from him. He encouraged him to remain focused on the true faith and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ. Brother, have you ever made a convert, or led any one to Christ Jesus? Are you aware that you have a responsibility not only to pray for them but to ensure that they remain in the grace of God and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ? Not to do so is to expose them to the danger of falling away. The second lesson is that even in the first century of the Christian era, there was a proliferation of false teachers whose teachings were basically distortions of the Old Testament Laws and the formulation of false but fanciful philosophies which had actually crept into the Church. They were contrary to the Gospel of the Grace of Christ. Can you identify some of them in todays world/Church? What is your attitude towards the spread of these false religions and philosophies? Paul admonished Timothy not to engage in unnecessary arguments - they are a worthless exercise. Rather, what you and I should do is to continually deepen our knowledge of the truth of the Word of God, teach it and live by it. Thus, we shall save our souls and those of them who look up to us. PRAYER: Dear Father, help me to so study and esteem the Word of Truth that I will not be swayed by false teachings; in Jesus Name. Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2019 THEME: HUMILITY EVEN IN GREATNESS BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 1:12-20 12. And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13. although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 15. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 16. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. 17. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 18. This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, 19. having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, 20. of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme. I Timothy 1:12-20 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Paul was chosen by Christ Jesus even when he was a notorious blasphemer and persecutor of the Church. But the Lord called him because He knew that his activities were borne out of ignorance and misunderstanding of the Christian faith. His zeal was to be channeled to a more profitable use for the Kingdom of Christ. And because he submitted his entire self to Christ, He was greatly empowered to do exploits. However, his sense of inadequacy and unworthiness made him focus more on the abundant grace of God upon his life than on whatever credit he could claim for himself. This grace of God made him humble and so Christ was all the more glorified. For every Saint, there is a past. And that calls for humility And for every sinner, there is a future. And that calls for grace. If all you have and all you have achieved is by the grace of God, then you have absolutely nothing to boast about. You must hide yourself behind the Cross of Calvary, and let Christ alone be glorified. It is a pity that a great number of modern-day so-called men of God boast more about the miracles, healings and deliverances which they perform than talk about the grace of God poured out on them. Humility means emptying oneself and making Jesus Christ known (Philippians 2:5-11). PRAYER: Father, grant that I may grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2019 THEME: INSTRUCTION ON WORSHIP BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-15 1. Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made 2. for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4. who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6. who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 7. for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying— a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8. I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 9. in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10. but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. 11. Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15. Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control. I TIMOTHY 2:1-15 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Worship (or prayer) is an act of communication between Man and God. Man recognizes Gods awesome glory and majesty and power in the creation of the World and all that is seen and unseen; His love, grace and mercy in the redemption of mankind through the sacrifice of His only Son Jesus Christ. By this, He created a new world by which man could relate with Him as children would relate to a loving, caring, and providential Father. In response to Him, we seek fellowship through prayers in which we praise Him, and bring our needs as well as those of other people to Him. But prayer must go beyond a mere legalistic exercise. If we are in a deep relationship with God through our Redeemer Jesus Christ, prayer becomes a vital life-giving and life-sustaining experience - just like the water we drink and the air we breathe. But for prayers to be answered, they must be offered by those who live holy and righteous lives, prayers whose hearts are sanctified and devoid of hatred and unforgiveness. Christians must not be selfish in their prayers; they should pray for all sorts and conditions of men - even for their enemies. And as we spice our prayer life with praise and thanksgiving, we will find that our communion with God is no longer a mere routine; it is a soul-lifting experience. PRAYER: Dear Loving Father, grant that any moment I draw near to you in prayer, I shall find the blessed radiance of your face flooding my entire being, in Jesus Name. Amen. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2019 (ALL SAINTS DAY) THEME: ARE YOU A SAINT? BIBLE TEXT: REVELATION 7:1-17 1. After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. 2. Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3. saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” 4. And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed: 5. of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand were sealed; 6. of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand were sealed; 7. of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand were sealed; 8. of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand were sealed. 9. After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10. and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11. All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12. saying: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.” 13. Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” 14. And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. 16. They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; 17. for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” REVELATION 7:1-17 NKJV GUIDE TEXT All Saints Day is the day set aside to celebrate the saints in Christ Jesus. Every true believer in Christ is expected to be a living saint, for our God is in the business of making sinners saints through the washing of the blood of Christ Jesus (v.14). When we confess our sins, repent of them and accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour, the Bible says the blood of Jesus Christ His son cleanses us from all sins (I John 1:7b, 9). Verses 13-17 narrate a dialogue between the Apostle John and one of the elders in his revelation. Though the Apostle could not recognize nor determine where the great multitude came from, the elder declared that these were the ones who came out of the great tribulation, and had washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. The prerequisite is the washing of their robes and making them white through the blood. Dear reader, consider these questions in Elisha A. Hoffmans hymn, Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you walking daily by the Saviours side? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Will your soul be ready for the mansion bright? And be washed in the blood of the lamb? If your answers are in the negative, then lay aside the garments that are stained with sin (i.e. repent and forsake your sins). Ask Jesus to come into your life and make you clean through the washing by his blood. If you are sincere with these steps, you have just been made a saint and your name is now written in the book of life. Keep the faith and grow in the Lord. PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me the grace to love and serve you till the end. Amen Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2019 (ALL SOULS DAY) THEME: JESUS IS COMING SOON, BE PREPARED BIBLE TEXT: I THESSALONIANS 4:13-18 13. But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18. Therefore comfort one another with these words. I Thessalonians 4:13-18 NKJV GUIDE TEXT All Souls' Day calls to our mind the remembrance of those who died in the faith of Christ. It reminds us of our hope to reign with the Lord when this earthly tent (our body) would have been destroyed by death (II Corinthians 5:1). Our text is Apostle Pauls admonition to the Church in Thessalonica about the return of the Lord, whose advent signifies hope and comfort for believers both living and dead (vs. 16-17). The perseverance of the Church in Thessalonica in the face of persecution was exemplary especially to churches in Macedonia and Achaia (I Thessalonians 1: 2-. However, the death of some faithful among them through persecution raised fear of what became the hope of the dead and those that were alive. The Holy Spirit however assures us that there is no cause for alarm, all righteous souls, living or dead, shall be raptured. The righteous dead will rise first (v.16) and we that are alive at rapture will join them in the clouds (v.17) to meet with the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord (v. 17c). What a glorious hope of re-union! Beloved, only those who died in the faith of Christ and those who have decided to live holy in the faith of Christ Jesus shall partake in this glorious experience. Without holiness no man shall see the Lord (Hebrew 12: 14). The scripture says, For this is the will of God, even your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality for God did not call us to uncleanness but in holiness (I Thessalonians 4:3,7). Therefore endeavour to live a holy life befitting of a child of God. Rapture could be today or tomorrow; the coming of the Lord is more imminent now than any time in history. Let us therefore eschew all forms of ungodliness and live a life that is pleasing to God. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: To delay your salvation may be dangerous; always be prepared for he will come as a thief in the night. Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional 1 Like |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2019 (TRINITY 20) THEME: FEAR ENSLAVES BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 19:11-27 11. Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. Therefore He said: 12. “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. 13. So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ 14. But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’ 15. “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. 16. Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ 17. And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ 18. And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’ 19. Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’ 20. “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief. 21. For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22. And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. 23. Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’ 24. “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’ 25. (But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’) 26. ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 27. But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ ” Luke 19:11-27 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Our text narrates the story of the noble man who distributed minas to his servants with a definite instruction that they should do business till I come (v.13). The first two servants got the challenge, worked diligently against all odds to ensure that they become productive with what they were given. The last, for fear of failure, fear of the austere master (harsh), kept the mina and became unproductive. At the return of the master, he was condemned and the mina taken away from him. The Scripture is right, the fear of man brings a snare, but whosoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. (Proverbs 29: 25). The fundamental problem of the failed servant was the fear of failure and consequent punishment from his master. He never saw his God-given ability to succeed. The master equipped him for success but fear robbed him of it. The same is true of many Christians today. Fear of losing admission, contract, employment or failure in business has made many to fail to take bold steps. They see man as the determinant of their future and not God. Did you know that God has equipped you for greatness in life? Refuse to be ensnared by fear. Your five loaves of bread and two fish (insignificant to feed a crowd) may be the needed ingredient God will use to bless many people. Arise today, pray and do business for the Lord with what you have. PRAYER: Thou Help of the helpless, give me grace not to be slothful, but to fulfil my God- given destiny in the land of the living, in Jesus name I pray. Amen. HAPPY SUNDAY! DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2019 THEME: COMFORT FOR THE REPENTANT CHILD OF GOD BIBLE TEXT: NAHUM 1: 1 - 8 1. The burden against Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. 2. God is jealous, and the Lord avenges; The Lord avenges and is furious. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies; 3. The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And will not at all acquit the wicked. The Lord has His way In the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust of His feet. 4. He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, And dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, And the flower of Lebanon wilts. 5. The mountains quake before Him, The hills melt, And the earth heaves at His presence, Yes, the world and all who dwell in it. 6. Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are thrown down by Him. 7. The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. 8. But with an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of its place, And darkness will pursue His enemies. Nahum 1:1-8 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The passage today consists of the prophecy against the Assyrians and their metropolis - Nineveh. This message was sent through the mouth of Prophet Nahum. Nahum (comforter), was very suitable, as he was sent to comfort the people by showing them that God was about to destroy their adversaries. The Assyrians under three of their kings Pul or Tiglath-pileser, Shalmaneser, and Sennacherib (1 Chronicles 5: 26; 2 Kings 17: 3; 2 Kings 18: 13) had been employed by a just God for the chastisement of his disobedient people. After this, God was about to burn the rod with which he corrected Israel; and Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian empire, was to be destroyed. The scripture is the Nahum (comfort) for us today. Whatever afflictions you have been going through, even if they were consequences of your disobedience to God, will come to an end if you repent and believe that God is your eternal refuge. He will keep you in perfect peace as you cause your mind to stay on Him (Isaiah 26:3). The crooked places shall begin to be made straight (Isaiah 45:2). His anger is but for a moment, His favour is for life. Your weeping may have persisted till today, but the dawn of the morning of your joy has come (Psalm 30:5). Therefore as you set out today, proclaim by faith that every arrangement of evil against you from today shall be destroyed, because you have become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. PRAYER: Father, today I receive Your comfort and peace which the world cannot give, and it shall be permanent in my life, in Jesus Name. Amen Credits :Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE O TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2019 THEME: SEASON OF MY RESTORATION BIBLE TEXT: NAHUM 1: 9-15 9. What do you conspire against the Lord ? He will make an utter end of it. Affliction will not rise up a second time. 10. For while tangled like thorns, And while drunken like drunkards, They shall be devoured like stubble fully dried. 11. From you comes forth one Who plots evil against the Lord , A wicked counselor. 12. Thus says the Lord : “Though they are safe, and likewise many, Yet in this manner they will be cut down When he passes through. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more; 13. For now I will break off his yoke from you, And burst your bonds apart.” 14. The Lord has given a command concerning you: “Your name shall be perpetuated no longer. Out of the house of your gods I will cut off the carved image and the molded image. I will dig your grave, For you are vile.” 15. Behold, on the mountains The feet of him who brings good tidings, Who proclaims peace! O Judah, keep your appointed feasts, Perform your vows. For the wicked one shall no more pass through you; He is utterly cut off. Nahum 1:9-15 NKJV GUIDE TEXT We continue with the story of the expiration of the onslaught of the Assyrians against Judah. God shows that the undertakings of the Assyrians against Judah were against Him, and therefore He would so destroy them the first time, that He would not need to return the second time. Affliction will not rise up a second time. The accounts of these judgments are written in the historical books of the Bible. The angel of the Lord slew 185,000 of them in one night (2 Kings 19:35). Verse 14 of our passage today was fulfilled for Sennacherib. Of the fact, the house of his gods became his grave: we know that while he was worshipping in the house of his god Nisroch, his two sons, Adrammelech and Sharezer, killed him there (2 Kings 19:37). Child of God, the season of your restoration from captivity of afflictions has come, because the enemies of your peace (natural and spiritual) shall be overthrown in such a way that they will not be able to rise again. The promises of the Lord are that you shall be established and settled after you have suffered for a while (1 Peter 5:10). God says He will comfort all your waste places and make your wilderness like Edenjoy and gladness shall be found in it (Isaiah 51:3). I believe this is for your home and marriage henceforth. He even promises a restoration of health to you (Jeremiah 30:17). In place of pains in your heart and body, you shall receive healing and peace. PRAYER: Father, I declare upon my life that Christ has delivered me from the power of darkness, and I have been translated into the realm of peace, joy in the Holy Spirit, and prosperity in Jesus name. Amen. Credits: Daily fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2019 THEME: CAPTIVITY SHALL GO INTO CAPTIVITY BIBLE TEXT: NAHUM 2:1-13 1. He who scatters has come up before your face. Man the fort! Watch the road! Strengthen your flanks! Fortify your power mightily. 2. For the Lord will restore the excellence of Jacob Like the excellence of Israel, For the emptiers have emptied them out And ruined their vine branches. 3. The shields of his mighty men are made red, The valiant men are in scarlet. The chariots come with flaming torches In the day of his preparation, And the spears are brandished. 4. The chariots rage in the streets, They jostle one another in the broad roads; They seem like torches, They run like lightning. 5. He remembers his nobles; They stumble in their walk; They make haste to her walls, And the defense is prepared. 6. The gates of the rivers are opened, And the palace is dissolved. 7. It is decreed: She shall be led away captive, She shall be brought up; And her maidservants shall lead her as with the voice of doves, Beating their breasts. 8. Though Nineveh of old was like a pool of water, Now they flee away. “Halt! Halt!” they cry; But no one turns back. 9. Take spoil of silver! Take spoil of gold! There is no end of treasure, Or wealth of every desirable prize. 10. She is empty, desolate, and waste! The heart melts, and the knees shake; Much pain is in every side, And all their faces are drained of color. 11. Where is the dwelling of the lions, And the feeding place of the young lions, Where the lion walked, the lioness and lion’s cub, And no one made them afraid? 12. The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs, Killed for his lionesses, Filled his caves with prey, And his dens with flesh. 13. “Behold, I am against you,” says the Lord of hosts, “I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more.” Nahum 2:1-13 NKJV GUIDE TEXT In our passage, the vision of the Prophet reveals that the Medes and the Babylonians were in readiness to destroy the Assyrians: he derides the attempts of the Assyrians who prepared to resist. Seeing God has punished his own people Judah and Israel, He will now punish the enemies by whom he scourged them the Assyrians. Then the Assyrians will seek by all means to gather their power, but all things will fail them. They will flatter themselves and say that Nineveh (capital city of Assyria) is so ancient that it can never perish, and is as a fish pool, whose waters cannot be touched by those that walk on the banks. They will be scattered, and will not look back, even if men call them. The message today is also comforting to you as the child of God. Revelation 13:10 says that he that leads into captivity shall go into captivity. Paul writes to the Romans, What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us allWho shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies? (Romans 8:31-33). Child of God, be assured that the pride of your oppressor shall be humbled in no time. All spiritual powers that they trust in shall fail them, because God has ordained this year to be your season of deliverance. He is the one that disappoints the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise (Job 5:12) PRAYER: Father, I confess that Christ has spoiled principalities and powers in my life, and had made a show of them openly, therefore I triumph over them day and night, in Jesus Name. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2019 THEME: GOD PUNISHES SIN AND INIQUITY BIBLE TEXT: NAHUM 3:1-11 1. Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery. Its victim never departs. 2. The noise of a whip And the noise of rattling wheels, Of galloping horses, Of clattering chariots! 3. Horsemen charge with bright sword and glittering spear. There is a multitude of slain, A great number of bodies, Countless corpses— They stumble over the corpses— 4. Because of the multitude of harlotries of the seductive harlot, The mistress of sorceries, Who sells nations through her harlotries, And families through her sorceries. 5. “Behold, I am against you,” says the Lord of hosts; “I will lift your skirts over your face, I will show the nations your unclothedness, And the kingdoms your shame. 6. I will cast abominable filth upon you, Make you vile, And make you a spectacle. 7. It shall come to pass that all who look upon you Will flee from you, and say, ‘Nineveh is laid waste! Who will bemoan her?’ Where shall I seek comforters for you?” 8. Are you better than No Amon That was situated by the River, That had the waters around her, Whose rampart was the sea, Whose wall was the sea? 9. Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, And it was boundless; Put and Lubim were your helpers. 10. Yet she was carried away, She went into captivity; Her young children also were dashed to pieces At the head of every street; They cast lots for her honorable men, And all her great men were bound in chains. 11. You also will be drunk; You will be hidden; You also will seek refuge from the enemy. NAHUM 3:1-11 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Jonah had warned the people of Nineveh of Yahwehs wrath and they had learnt that God is slow to anger (Jonah 4:2). They had repented at the preaching of Jonah but the change had only lasted for a generation or two. Soon, they resumed their evil and arrogant ways. They became like dogs going back to their vomit. They had forgotten the mercy of the Lord that showed them the way to a new life in God and saved them from the destruction and doom that should have consumed them. God pronounced woe upon the city of Nineveh because it was full of iniquities (vs. 1 & 4). In other words, God compares the city of Nineveh to a prostitute whose splendour and magnificence dazzled the neighbouring nations. God was against Nineveh and was determined to make Nineveh a pitiable spectacle that would be mocked by passers-by and would have filth thrown at her (vs. 6 & 7). Beloved, it is a dangerous thing to neglect the living God and His way of holiness especially after receiving His forgiveness and mercy. Such act is tantamount to crucifying Jesus Christ afresh (Hebrew 6:4-6). The same God who showed mercy on Nineveh by the preaching of Jonah brought the message of doom and woe through Prophet Nahum. We must always note that our God is a God of both love and judgment. He punishes sins and transgressions. Kindly run away from every appearance of evil and cleave to God in truth and holiness. PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me the courage to do away with sin and its appearances in my life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional 1 Like |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2019 THEME: ESCAPE FROM GODS ANGER BIBLE TEXT: NAHUM 3:12-19 12. All your strongholds are fig trees with ripened figs: If they are shaken, They fall into the mouth of the eater. 13. Surely, your people in your midst are women! The gates of your land are wide open for your enemies; Fire shall devour the bars of your gates. 14. Draw your water for the siege! Fortify your strongholds! Go into the clay and tread the mortar! Make strong the brick kiln! 15. There the fire will devour you, The sword will cut you off; It will eat you up like a locust. Make yourself many—like the locust! Make yourself many— like the swarming locusts! 16. You have multiplied your merchants more than the stars of heaven. The locust plunders and flies away. 17. Your commanders are like swarming locusts, And your generals like great grasshoppers, Which camp in the hedges on a cold day; When the sun rises they flee away, And the place where they are is not known. 18. Your shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria; Your nobles rest in the dust. Your people are scattered on the mountains, And no one gathers them. 19. Your injury has no healing, Your wound is severe. All who hear news of you Will clap their hands over you, For upon whom has not your wickedness passed continually? Nahum 3:12-19 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Yesterday, we pointed out that God is a God of both love and judgment. He punishes sin and His eyes are purer than to behold iniquity. The concluding portion of the prophecy of Nahum which we have been going through for the past few days is surprisingly terrifying. It is clear from our text today that God leaves no way of escape for the city of Nineveh that had once been treated as a beloved of the Lord, having received abundant mercy. God was set to confront Nineveh with such afflictions as weakening her army and opening her gates to the enemy (Nahum 3:13); cause fire outbreak that would bring colossal disaster (v.15); paralyze the commercial and economic life of the city (v.15b); cause the people to labour in vain (vs.16-17); and so on. Little wonder the Bible says, It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrew 10: 31). Beloved of the Lord, the love side of God is what we should always seek to see and experience by our continual loyalty and obedience to Him. The judgment side of God is so terrible that one should have nothing to do with it. The only way to escape God's anger is to keep to the track of His will and never go back for whatever reason (Luke 9: 62; Hebrew 10: 38b) PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me grace to always obey you so that I may constantly experience your love. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2019 THEME: PRAY FOR YOUR PASTORS BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 3:1-7 1. This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. 2. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3. not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 4. one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 5. (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); 6. not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. 7. Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. I TIMOTHY 3:1-7 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Paul uses the term episkopos (meaning overseer) to designate those who have been called to care for God's sheep. In English, this word is sometimes translated as bishop, but the words pastor or shepherd are also correct. According to Paul, there are three basic areas every pastor is supposed to be above board. First, he must be blameless in the society (v.2a). In other words, his morality must not be open to question. This also includes the fact that he must be a husband of one wife (v.2b). This standard was not only true in Pauls time but also important today in Africa. Second, he must have self-control. He must not be given to wine, women or money. That is, he must not submit himself to an unhealthy love for women, pleasure or money. Third, he must be a good manager of his home. A pastor who does not understand how to care for his family will find it difficult to care for the Church of God. If he cannot gain the respect of his own family, he cannot be respected in the Church for which he is an overseer. Beloved, the happenings all over the world today in relation to pastors and overseers of churches call for caution and prayers. There are cases of pastors who do not only feed fat on the resources of the Church but also engage in chronic acts of immorality. There are those who employ diabolic means of obtaining and sustaining their so called anointing. There are also those who see nothing wrong in getting themselves drunk even before appearing in the church to lead the people of God in worship. It becomes imperative for church members to begin to intercede for their pastors who are the focus of the devil at this end time. It is clear that a good number of pastors are already out of the programme of God for their lives and ministries. You must rise up to pray for as many pastors as are under the power and control of the enemy. In case you are sure that your pastor is on the right track, please pray for him as well that the message of the cross of Christ will not depart from him. Kindly pray for your pastors. PRAYER: Dear Lord, I pray for all the shepherds of your flock who have derailed that, your mercy will bring them back on track, and that those who are standing for you shall not fall, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Credits ' Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2019 (TRINITY 21) THEME: YOUR SORROW WILL TURN TO JOY BIBLE TEXT :JOHN 16:21-24 21. A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. 22. Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. 23. “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:21-24 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Jesus prepared the hearts of His Disciples for the intense sorrow and anguish his arrest, suffering and death would soon bring them. The disciples would later rejoice at His resurrection just like a pregnant woman whose time of labour is full of intense pain but shortly afterwards, rejoices at the birth of her new-born baby, forgetting her birth pains. Their joy would know no bounds. Beloved, that you experience difficult, painful or trying times does not mean that God has abandoned you. That you experience sorrowful moments does not mean that God does not listen to your prayers. This may just be a time to test your faith. Do not lose heart. Your sorrow will soon turn to joy. Keep pressing on in faith: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5) PRAYER: Father, turn my pain into joy, my trials into testimonies in Jesus name. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2019 THEME: MINISTRY HELPERS BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 3:8-16 8. Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, 9. holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. 10. But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. 11. Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 12. Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13. For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. 14. These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; 15. but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 16. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory. I TIMOTHY 3:8-16 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Paul, in today's passage, sets out what is expected of a deacon and his household by the Church of God. A deacon must be temperate and blameless in character (vs. 8-10). A deacons wife is expected to be temperate, serious, faithful, and not a slanderer (v.11). His marriage must be monogamous and his family must be exemplary in good behaviour (v.12). A deacon or deaconess helps pastors in their work and care for the needy in the church (especially for the widows, the ill and the poor, according to Acts 6:2-4). This corresponds to voluntary church workers in our contemporary time, in our church. Today, inasmuch as you are actively involved in church programmes in one way or the other by your calling or gift, you have been called to serve in your local congregation or assembly as a help to your pastor. Many voluntary church workers fail to realize that God has chosen them to function as a help to their pastors or congregation. They feel that since they are not specially commissioned or ordained, they are not valued as deacons or assistant pastors. Areas in which God raises help for pastors in the church include: Bible Study teaching, Children Sunday School, ministering in songs, leading prayer meetings, service helpers, etc. If you have been involved in one or more areas as mentioned above, you therefore need to imbibe the character of a pastors helper (deacon) as described in the passage. This is because God may later decide to call you to a higher office in His vineyard, then you will not be found waiting. PRAYER: Dear God, help me to live up to your expectations in my life in Jesus name Credits :Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2019 THEME: STAND FIRM AGAINST FALSE TEACHING BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 4:1-5 1. Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2. speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3. forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5. for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. I TIMOTHY 4:1-5 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Apostle Paul, in this passage, through Timothy, warned the Church of false teachings and doctrines that would wage war against the Church in the end times. He warned that the end-times would be filled with much false teaching inspired by the devil, in a bid to destroy or undermine the work of the Church. This shows that the Church is engaged in a spiritual battle at all times. Every true Christian should guard against the tricks and teachings of and revelations from the devil. Today, many false teachings and devil-inspired doctrines have crept into many churches. Examples include: gay marriage, special revelations, visions and prophetic utterances contradicting the Bible, false ascetic life forbidding marriage and certain foods, just to mention a few. Many other lies equally find their ways to the pulpit, leading many away into error. We are to stand our guard at all times by knowing deeply the Word of God and staying fervent in prayer (v.5). We must also be involved in aggressive evangelism. This will help us stand firm and snatch some back from error (Jude vs. 17-23). PRAYER: Lord God, help me and the Church to stay firm in your Word and firm against false teachings this end time, in Jesus Name. Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2019 THEME: A MODEL FOR BELIEVERS BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 4:6-16 6. If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. 7. But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. 8. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. 9. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. 10. For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe. 11. These things command and teach. 12. Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13 Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. 15. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. 16. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. I TIMOTHY 4:6-16 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Just he did to Timothy in our text today, Apostle Paul is charging all Christians to be models in their society, Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity (1 Timothy 4:12). The essence of Christianity is transformation. God desires to work in us so that we change increasingly into the likeness of Christ. The purpose is that through us, He will influence and transform the world. The Scriptures encourage believers, In all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you (Titus 2:7-. Paul wants every believer who lives in this present age to be a role model in character, in speech, in integrity and in purity of heart. As role models, we are to heed this command of the Lord, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Mathew 5:16). A model believer must have sound Christian experience of conversion (2 Corinthians 5:17 & Revelation 3:20). The conversion experience is the foundation for anyone who wants to influence others positively. It is when the heart is purified and the Adamic nature is uprooted that a believer can easily live an exemplary life (1 Peter 1:15-16). Through his good works and deeds, he enables those around him to taste the love of God and continue in the faith. PRAYER: O Lord, help me to shine as a light in the world, in Jesus mighty Name. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2019 THEME: REBUKE NOT AN ELDER BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 5:1-7 1. Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, 2. older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with all purity. 3. Honor widows who are really widows. 4. But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God. 5. Now she who is really a widow, and left alone, trusts in God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day. 6. But she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives. 7. And these things command, that they may be blameless. I Timothy 5:1-7 NKJV GUIDE TEXT In today's text, Paul admonished Timothy not to be arrogant, but to show humility in treating elders as fathers. The word elder is used in this context to mean an aged, not an officer of the church. Lack of respect for the aged is one of the menaces in our society today. The Bible says, Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you (Exodus 20:12). Perhaps, the untimely death that we experience in our society today may be as a result of lack of respect for elders because the scripture cannot contradict itself. In the community of Christians, we have various groups of people based on their age and we must be able to identify them and treat them as such. When an elder goes astray, it is our obligation to correct him in love with wisdom and humility in order to lead him in the path of righteousness. We should do this as we would treat our own parents. We should be polite in addressing the elders and we should not abuse them. PRAYER: O Lord, please give me a heart of humility and respect for the aged in Jesus mighty Name. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2019 THEME: CARING FOR THE FAMILY BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 5:8-16 8. But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 9. Do not let a widow under sixty years old be taken into the number, and not unless she has been the wife of one man, 10. well reported for good works: if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work. 11. But refuse the younger widows; for when they have begun to grow wanton against Christ, they desire to marry, 12. having condemnation because they have cast off their first faith. 13. And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not. 14. Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 15. For some have already turned aside after Satan. 16. If any believing man or woman has widows, let them relieve them, and do not let the church be burdened, that it may relieve those who are really widows. I TIMOTHY 5:8-16 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The counsel of Apostle Paul to the young Timothy in our text today addresses one of the most serious pitfalls that confront Christians in the caring ministry. The Bible says, But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever (1Timothy 5:. The family is an institution whose importance is emphasized in all the passages of the Scripture. We cannot overlook the supreme importance of the family to God. He gave us families as the building blocks of the society and as a place to learn how to care. Furthermore, caring for others to the detriment of our own families is a great tragedy. Today, a good number of people focus all their attention on career, social engagement, extended family, ungodly company, etc., leaving their families unattended. Their spouses and children are like sheep without a shepherd and the devil has seized the opportunity to attack their home front. Anyone who leaves his family uncared for is causing a lot of havoc to the society. Some marriages break up because those God has placed over the home spend little or no time with their families. Nothing is more pathetic than a committed Christian who has become so concerned in caring for others that he or she forgets his own family. If you are guilty of this, you need to ask God to forgive you and have a change of heart from today. PRAYER: O Lord, help me to be alive to my responsibilities in my family in Jesus Name. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2019 THEME: LABOUR FOR GODLY REWARD BIBLE TEXT: 1TIMOTHY 5:17-25 17. Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 18. For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” 19. Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses. 20. Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear. 21. I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality. 22. Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure. 23. No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities. 24. Some men’s sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later. 25. Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden. I TIMOTHY 5:17-25 NKJV GUIDE TEXT By his ministerial experience, Apostle Paul could advise one of his sons in the Lord, Timothy, who at that time, was a Bishop of Ephesus. His major advice to him was to reward whoever performs his duties well. Verses 17 and 18 reveal necessities for reward, and why this was necessary: Never tie up the mouth of an ox when it is treading out the grain let him eat as he goes along (v.18 Living Bible). especially those who labour faithfully in preaching and teaching (v.17- Amplified). Brethren, in discharging our duties, diligence and faithfulness have no alternatives. Do not seek reward garbed with deceit, evil-speaking of others, fraud, eye-service etc. 1Corinthians 4:2 says, Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. Today, people of dubious character are being rewarded while the good works of some go unnoticed. They may seem unnoticed to you but God takes record of all that we do and how we go about them. For God is not unjust to forget your work and labour of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister (Hebrew 6:10). Beloved, how faithful and diligent are you in your place of work? Does your work match up with the payment you get? How justifiable is your reward or promotion? If it is not, repent. Are you trying hard in your capacity and yet no reward or promotion? Relax! Our God is a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrew 11:6). He rewards faithfulness. PRAYER: Father, help me to faithfully discharge my duties to you and humanity. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN.* THE DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA _ (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2019 _*(2nd Sunday Before Advent)*_ *THEME:* CONSEQUENCES OF A SINFUL LIFE *BIBLE READING:* JOHN 5: 2-14 *(RSV)* 2. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Hebrew called Bethzatha, which has five porticoes. 3. In these lay a multitude of invalids, blind, lame, paralyzed. 4. 5. One man was there, who had been ill for thirty-eight years. 6. When Jesus saw him and knew that he had been lying there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be healed?" 7. The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is troubled, and while I am going another steps down before me." 8. Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your pallet, and walk." 9. And at once the man was healed, and he took up his pallet and walked. Now that day was the sabbath. 10. So the Jews said to the man who was cured, "It is the sabbath, it is not lawful for you to carry your pallet." 11. But he answered them, "The man who healed me said to me, `Take up your pallet, and walk.'" 12. They asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, `Take up your pallet, and walk'?" 13. Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place. 14. Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse befall you." *MESSAGE:* Sin, simply put, means ‘missing the mark.’ The man in our text today had a very pathetic case of incapacitation which eventually made him helpless and hopeless (vs. 5-7). Jesus seeing him in such a terrible condition did not only pity but also commanded him to rise, take up his bed and walk (v. which he did immediately (v.9). Later, when Jesus found him in the temple, he told him to sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon him (v.14). There are two things to quickly note from the statement of Jesus: first, the paralytic's condition was a result of sin. Second, there are situations that could be worse than being bedridden for thirty eight years if he continued in sin. It was thirty eight years of complete uselessness, stagnation, redundancy, unfruitfulness, pain, torment, sadness and anguish. What could be more pathetic for a man to spend more than half of his life expectancy on a spot, unmovable! Still, Jesus said anyone who continued sinning may have worse experiences than this man. Beloved, there is no doubt that sin is a gateway_ to all manners of affliction which include all the situations mentioned earlier. When sin rules over one's life, it enslaves such a person and keeps him in perpetual bondage, thereby leaving him in torment and severe pain. Therefore, come to Jesus who has come to give life in abundance. Accept Him into your life today and renounce such sins that may want to deny you of maximum peace and comfort. *PRAYER:* Dear Lord, as I repent of my sins, Please minister wholesome healing to my body and soul. |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2019 LEARN TO BE RESPECTFUL 1TIMOTHY 6:1-5 1. Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed. 2. And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things. 3. If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, 4. he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5. useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. I TIMOTHY 6:1-5 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Among the virtues going down the drain in our contemporary times are respect and honour for elderly ones. No wonder, Paul often, in his letters advocated vertical respect, such as respect from children to parents, followers to leaders, junior officers to senior ones, students to teachers, servants to masters, and the like. Apart from the aforementioned, loyalty and commitment to service are expected from anyone who is under authority. Verse 1 does not limit our respect and honour to fellow believers alone, we are equally duty bound to honour unbelieving masters or parents while we continue to pray for their salvation. When we do that, the name of God and His teaching will not be blasphemed. In verse 2, Paul admonished that we should not take the grace of salvation as a means to crossing our boundaries. Hence, the fact that we refer to ourselves as brothers and sisters is not a license for disrespect. Beloved, you do not represent God well when you are disrespectful, and your spirituality will not only be doubted but will also be mocked by those who should have seen you as a model for godly virtues. That you have an ungodly parent or boss should not make you spiritually arrogant that you treat them with contempt. Some ungodly parents and bosses have remained in darkness till today because the light that those who come in contact with them claim to have does not reflect the humility of Christ. The best people that should accord respect to others, especially the elderly, are those who are Christ-like. Are you one of them? PRAYER: Father, fill my life with the spirit of humility so as to give honour to whom honour is due in Jesus Name. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2019 TOPIC:BEWARE OF GREED BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 6:6-10 6. Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. I Timothy 6:6-10 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Greed, simply put, is a selfish or excessive desire for more than what is needed or deserved, especially of money, wealth, food or other possessions. Greed comes when one finds it difficult to distinguish between needs and wants. Many people tend to run after their wants rather than their needs. When you begin to desire for wants rather than needs, then greed comes in. Paul said Now godliness with contentment is great gain (v.6). In Luke 12 verse 15, Jesus warned his disciples to take heed and beware of covetousness, for ones life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses. Jesus gives cure to greed as seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and every other thing shall be added (Matthew 6:33). Greed leads to all kinds of evil: internet fraud, embezzlement, looting of the treasury, kidnapping, and all other sorts of vices. To overcome greed, you must get rid of the desire to be rich at all costs. People craving to be rich can be caught in an endless cycle that only ends in ruin and destruction. PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from greed in Jesus name. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2019 THEME: THE BEST FIGHT BIBLE TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 6: 11-16 11. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14. that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15. which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of Lords, 16. who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. I Timothy 6:11-16 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The word fight” means to contend in physical conflict, either in war, battle, etc. It also means to strive or contend for success, to conduct or engage in battle, warfare, etc. Paul in his first letter to Timothy, encouraged him to fight. This fight is not the fight of inordinate ambition but the fight of faith. Jude also gives the same advice when he writes in his letter that Christians should contend for the faith (Jude v.3). In 1 Corinthians 9:26b, Paul also said Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. Christians live in the last days where faith of many is growing cold (Matthew24:12). Jesus even predicted if He would find faith on the earth when He comes back (Luke 18:. The battle between the kingdom of God and darkness is becoming fiercer; Christians are at the centre of this battle and we are on the Lords side. Christians are to fight the good fight of faith until they lay hold on eternal life. The battle had already been won on the cross but Christians are to fight to sustain the victory. PRAYER: Lord, make me a winner and not a loser in this fight of faith in Jesus Name. Amen Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2019 THEME: REASONABLE WEALTH BIBLE TEXT: 1TIMOTHY 6: 17-21 17. Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19. storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 20. O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge— 21. by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen. I Timothy 6:17-21 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The Bible does not condemn riches. In Deuteronomy chapter 8 verse 18, God stated that He is the one that gives power to get wealth. He helped Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Solomon to become wealthy. What the Bible condemns is the love for money or making idol out of the wealth or turning the riches to a god. Anything you love more than the creator is an idol. In our text today, Paul told Timothy to warn those who want to be rich in this present age not to be neither haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy (v.17). He also prescribed some duties for them to perform as doing good works, ready to give and willing to share (v.18). The ultimate is storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come. These warnings and prescription are also for you to follow. PRAYER: Lord, uproot anything that has replaced you in my life in Jesus Name. Amen Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2019 THEME: KEEP THE FIRE BURNING BIBLE TEXT: II TIMOTHY 1:1-12 1. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, 2. To Timothy, a beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3. I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4. greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5. when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. 6. Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 8. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9. who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10. but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11. to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12. For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. II TIMOTHY 1:1-12 NKJV GUIDE TEXT This second letter of Apostle Paul to Timothy, his beloved son in the Lord, contains personal instructions to Timothy who was still very young in the race. Having talked comprehensively about Church administration in his first letter, Paul was more concerned here about Timothy's personal relationship with God. After commending Timothy's strong and uncompromising faith in Christ Jesus, the first instruction he gave was the need to rekindle the gift of God upon his life. He says, Hence I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands (v. 6). Paul knew that Timothy had been endowed with virtue for the work of the Ministry, but he needed to put fire on it. Just as it has been made known both in the Old and New Testaments that anointing is transferable and renewable, so also it is necessary for one to know that sin is contagious. Sin is a dead fly that kills anointing; it chokes God's endowment and drowns God's grace upon ones life. It is your responsibility to keep aflame the grace of God within you, Paul repeatedly charged Timothy on this (I Timothy 4:14, II Timothy 1:6). This means God has not given His gift for fun: every gift given by God is for assignment. It is to meet needs. When not used, it becomes dormant and is as good as dead. Avoid timidity and fear of the unknown and be compassionate about your God-given grace, no matter how insignificant it seems to you. Try and maximize it for the edification of the body of Christ and expansion of His Kingdom. PRAYER: God of heaven and earth, Who in your benevolence gives grace to mankind for the edification of the body of Christ, help me not to waste your heavenly endowment upon my life, in Jesus Name. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2019 THEME: KEEP THE FAITH BIBLE TEXT: II TIMOTHY 1:13-18 13. Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 14. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. 15. This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. 16. The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; 17. but when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very zealously and found me. 18. The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that Day—and you know very well how many ways he ministered to me at Ephesus. II Timothy 1:13-18 NKJV GUIDE TEXT In our text yesterday, Paul was more concerned about Timothy's personal walk with God. As an experienced minister of the gospel, Paul knew with strong conviction that there is a possibility for a believer to swing away from the faith. One of the prophecies revealed by the Apostle in this letter is that in the last days, many will deny the faith. They will not endure sound teaching. Timothy was warned not to associate himself with such men of depraved minds (II Timothy 3:5). Dr. Steve Farrar, the founder and Chairman of Mens Leadership Ministries, in his book Finishing Strong, wrote about three vibrant evangelists, Chuck Templeton, Bron Cliford and Billy Graham. These three young evangelists in their mid-twenties were said to be the most gifted and extraordinary preachers of the gospel of their time, (in the 40s). Within the period of ten years, only one out of the three could still hold on to faith in Christ Jesus, and that was Billy Graham. Steve writes - In the Christian life, its not how you start that matters. Its how you finish. Falling away from the faith is very deadly. It is a spiritual problem. It does not happen arbitrarily and is never a sudden tragedy. The devil in his cunning ways knows how to get people out of the track. He does that with the aim of ultimately removing his victim away from the purpose of God. He who thinks he stands should take heed lest he fall (I Corinthians 10:12). No one is immune to Satans suggestions and trick; he will never be in a hurry or wearied to achieve his purpose. To keep the faith in this perverse world of ours, calls for daily spiritual x-ray, that is, constant self-examination. Therefore, one needs to stand firm as he/she stays close to the word of God and keeps his/ her heart close to Jesus. PRAYER: Lord, I pray you to keep me moving in you and enable me to end up my race with you in eternity through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Amen. Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF NOVEMBER 24TH 2019. (TRINITY 23) THEME: WONDERS OF HIS PRESENCE BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 18:18-20 18. “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19. “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” MATTHEW 18:18-20 NKJV GUIDE TEXT As Jesus continued His teachings on how believers should handle dispute among themselves, He came up with these amazing promises, ‘ ... if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.’ It is out of point to think that what determines the move of the Holy Spirit in our gathering is the attendance. The determining factor as stated by Jesus Christ Himself here is basically two requirements. One is that the gathering, be it prayer meeting, Bible Study, singing practice, house fellowship, Sunday Service, etc., must be in His Name. In other words, Jesus must be at the centre. The second requirement is the matter of agreement. One of the testimonies made about the early Apostles was that they were in one accord (Acts 1:4). These amazing promises show the divinity of the Lord Jesus Christ; He can be in many places at the same time and His name carries His authority. The gathering of the children of God, is a gathering with the King of Kings. Are you fond of neglecting the fellowship of brethren? You are missing the opportunity of meeting with the King of kings. Or have you cultivated nonchalant attitudes like, not concentrating during worship, pressing your phone, browsing, chatting, reading newspapers, receiving or making calls in His presence? You don't have an idea of what you are losing. Christ the King attends meetings with His Children; be conscious of this and do not take it for fun. In His presence there is fullness of joy. PRAYER: Merciful and loving Father, open my inner eye and touch my mind to be conscious of the benefits of being where you have promised to always manifest yourself in Jesus' Name. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF NOVEMBER -25TH 2019 THEME: PERSEVERE BIBLE TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 2:1-13 1. You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 3. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. 5. And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 6. The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops. 7. Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. 8. Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, 9. for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. 10. Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11. This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. 12. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. 13. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. II TIMOTHY 2:1-13 NKJV GUIDE TEXT To persevere means to continue trying to do or achieve something in spite of difficulties. It is crucial for us as Christians to be determined to win. We must be ready to fight until hell freezes over. In verses 3-6 of our text, three suggestive illustrations are used to encourage Timothy in various aspects of his work. All three, the soldier, the athlete and the farmer, are taken from common life experiences, and are frequent literary metaphors, applied here in a specifically spiritual sense. From the soldier, Timothy must lean endurance, from the athlete, discipline and from the fanner, perseverance. Paul knew that Timothy was young, timid and was ministering in a spiritually vulnerable environment in Ephesus. He had been standing against false teachers and trying to restore order to the church, but he had experienced only minimal success. We should strive to do our best to preach the gospel message in our community, to endure all things for the sake of the elect (vs 10), and not to deny Christ in whatever situations we might find ourselves. PRAYER: Father, help me to endure, to be disciplined and to persevere in all situations, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2019 THEME: SHUN PROFANE AND VAIN BABBLINGS BIBLE TEXT: II TIMOTHY 2:14-26 14. Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. 15. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 17. And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, 18. who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. 19. Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” 20. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 22. Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23. But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25. in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26. and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. II Timothy 2:14-26 NKJV GUIDE TEXT To shun means to avoid something. Profane is showing a lack of respect for God or holy things or people. Vain means useless or empty. Babble is childish, disordered or foolish talk. Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something Plato. In I Timothy 6:20, profane and vain babblings seem to have constituted a dominant element in the problems facing the Ephesian Church. The best way of dealing with this kind of situation is to avoid or shun such teachings. As in verse 16, particular attention is paid to the devastating influence of these vain babblers, whose trivialities lead to increasing ungodliness. Most of the massive amounts of information spread via internet are bankrupt in virtue, praise and godliness. Some of those who post on social media like facebook, whatsapp, etc., commonly circulate ideas that are empty and devoid of lasting value. So we should be careful not to be involved in discussions that have no eternal value or have the tendency of scattering the flock of Christ rather than uniting her. PRAYER: Almighty God, help me not to engage in foolish talk that will scatter your flock, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2019 THEME: PERILOUS TIMES ARE HERE BIBLE TEXT: II TIMOTHY 3: 1-9 1. But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3. unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self- control, brutal, despisers of good, 4. traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5. having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6. For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7. always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9. but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was. II Timothy 3:1-9 NKJV GUIDE TEXT From our text, Paul informed Timothy about the moral character of the coming apostates and listed eighteen features of the perilous time (very dangerous times) to come in the last day (vs.1-5). With all that we see and hear happening in different parts of the world today, it is very clear that we are already in perilous times. We are living in the days when movies, television shows and commercials promote homosexuality, immorality and violence. And such media contents are effectively brainwashing their users, especially the youths. There was an attempt to remove Christian Religious Studies from the school curriculum in our country, sometime ago. Sodomites and their sympathizers are protesting churches abroad. Disorderliness and disobedience have taken over the hearts of many people. All sorts of evil abound because of the love for money, position and power. All these are signs of the perilous times. In order for us not to be swept away in this ill wind of the time, and miss the second coming of Christ, we must prepare ourselves daily with the word of God, through diligent searching and self-examination. We should also pray and intensify our commitment to propagating the gospel message until the end of time. PRAYER: Almighty God, in times like this, perfect and strengthen me to the end in Jesus Name. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional 1 Like |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2019 THEME: TRUE LEADERSHIP AND FOLLOWERSHIP BIBLE TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 3:10-17 10. But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11. persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12.Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15. and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17. that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. II Timothy 3:10-17 NKJV GUIDE TEXT True leadership and followership are hard to come by these days. Only very few people in leadership positions today do not have skeletons in their cupboards. There is apparent unwillingness by many people today to be led in the right way. Our younger generation looks up to those with questionable characters (with ungodly lifestyles and broken homes) as stars and models. And worse, the social media encourages this. Paul through his teachings, conduct, purpose in life, faith, patience, love, steadfastness and even challenges such as persecutions and sufferings, was a true model to Timothy. The question is, 'Am I one?' Timothy on the other hand, had a testimony from Paul that he, Timothy, closely observed and diligently followed Paul. There are people, whether young or old today, who want to climb the ladder of success without diligently observing those who have gone ahead. Timothy's case was different. He was a diligent follower. Our Lord Jesus Christ advocates true leadership and followership. He called His apostles by saying, 'follow me.' Can God depend on you for true and godly leadership today? FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Be ye followers of me as I follow Christ. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |
