Owerri Bar, Imo State Chapter Of Nba Resolves by DesChyko: 7:12am On Jan 27, 2019
On return from an emergency meeting called by the members of the NBA chapter in Owerri, Imo State, a number of resolutions were reached in face of the threat to the Judiciary as members revealed ecstatically.

1. That Owerri Bar rejects in its entirety the purported and unconstitutional suspension of the Hon. CJN by the President of FRN.
2. That Owerri Bar hereby empowers the chairman and executive members of the Bar to attend the NEC meeting of the NBA on Monday 28/01/2019 and insist on the branch position that all legal process must be followed to ensure that this Constitutional breach is reversed.
3. That in addition to (2) above, Owerri Bar resolved that NBA should take all other steps including but not limited to the total boycott of Courts and if the need arises the shutting down of the polity in collaboration with Civil Society Groups.
4. That the Attorney General of the Federation and the Vice President be called upon to resign for being complicit in the Constitutional breach.
5. That in addition to (4), the Attorney General of the Federation and the Vice President should face disciplinary committee of the Bar for disciplinary actions; and
6. That in line with the precedent laid in Abia State, that the NJC should dismiss the purported Acting CJN who presented himself to be sworn in, in circumstances that they are in pari material with Abia State case.

The motion was moved and seconded by Chief C.C. Onyeagbakor and L.U.N. Nwakaeti, Esq respectively.

This is a very good step in ensuring that separation of powers remain sacrosanct to preserve our democracy and keep everyone in check.

Nairaland reminds me of that theory that given an infinite length of time, a monkey punching random keys on a typewriter would eventually just start throwing shit at the walls.

If you were to be a case study, I've got to agree we don't even need an infinite length of time for that to happen embarassed

Nigeria is a funny country. Let the NBA go to court and challenge the action of the president if they feel he acted contrary to the constitution rather than issuing this nonsense they called resolution. The NBA that has been silent over how the CJN got $3,000,000 and postponing the NJC meeting indefinitely has not woken up to call the NJC for the suspension of the acting CJN what a show of shame. It's now very clear the judiciary is the most corrupt organ of govt

Any educated person who does not believe Judiciary should be insulated from harassment by Executive is not worth the money spent on his education.
The last Canon of the Rule of Law is the Independence of the Judiciary. A judiciary that can be disciplined or harassed by the executive by fiat or whims can never be Independent to dispense Justice without fear or favour.
The Judiciary is Lord to every person, body, agency of government etc. It presides over all persons including the President and the Federal Government and even the Supreme Court.
The Labyrinth created by the NJC and the 2/3rd majority vote of the Senate is to insulate the Judiciary. It is not to shield them. It creates a process which must be complied.
It makes the act of dealing with a Judicial officer expensive so that an executive cannot abuse the powers to discipline a judicial officer.
No one says Onnoghen cannot be disciplined. Far from it. But there was no need for the hurry. President already have the powers, and with time he can get what he wants.
But you all know the hurry in this case. The political interests.

On judiciary being the most corrupt organ, of government, you are right on the money
