2019: Ten Reasons Nigerians Will Choose Buhari Over Atiku by afonjaman: 9:39pm On Jan 28, 2019
The last four years in Nigeria's sociopolitical space has not been devoid of drama, adventure, scheming, plotting among others. One you could compare to the popular American HBO Series "Game of thrones".

This eventful period has seen the Senate President tried for False asset declaration, arrest and continuous detention of former national security adviser-Dasuki, Bugdet padding, rise and fall of pro-biafra movement in Nnamdi Kanu, economic recession and recovery and most recently the suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria.

We have also been treated to a tale of the Capture and rescue of Dapchi girls, "Metamophosis" of Boko haram, Emergence of Killer Herdmen, 'lopsided' political appointments among others.

All the above can all be subjectively assessed depending on whether you are a fan of the government or an opposition.
For  many who thought the present administration has performed woefully in office, the news of Buhari's interest in the 2019 polls would have been a bitter pill to swallow but for those who have seen only gains, the feeling has been nothing short of ecstatic.

There are definitely positives and negatives from all the ordeals of President Buhari's fourth year in Office.But the real questions are;

Which of these actually affect the outcome of elections?
Does he have a chance in 2019?
Can we expect a credible election?
who are the other candidates?

No matter how repulsed you are with his style of governance, he is by far the most likely winner of 2019 presidential elections for several reasons. This is not farther from the truth because Nigerians have not changed  much since the last election.
We are still influenced by tribalism, ethnic affiliation  among others. This will come into play once again in 2019 and sweep things in his favour.
Without much ado lets get a bit more analytical in the reasons why one of the most respected African presidents may remain in office for another four years.

♣#1♠ Power Of Incumbency
The dynamics of power in most countries, even in the first world, is such that its almost always impossible to unseat a sitting President seeking re-election.The story and Vladimir Putin and Alexi Nalvani is fresh in our memory
Sadly, its even worse in Africa were many presidents have managed to stay in power for several decades. This is easily so when the President has access to relatively more resources in funds, military and even control of the media than any opposition figure can muscle
In President Buhari's case, he rode to power on the will of the people and he still very much beloved by many across the country. So his grip on power would be far more easier.
Eventhough Nigeria has experienced several democratic transition of power in the last 16 years, 2015 was the first time an incumbent lost.

♠#2♠ Northern Favourite

President Buhari is still largely a beloved of the North being their son.The Northern part of the country never hides it bias for its own especially when it matters most.
It might interest you to know that out of the 73, 944, 312 registered voters as of January 2018,
Northwest- 18,505,984
Northcentral- 10,586,965
Northeast-  9,929,015
In summary, the North boasts of up to 50% of total registerd voters.Moreso voters turnout of the Northern part of Nigeria is also found to high than southern Nigeria.
All these figures will swing the outcome of the election in Buhari's favour again come 2019.

♠#3♠ International Reputation
It is a not an exageration that President Muhammadu Buhari is respected both locally and internationally for his integrity and uprightness. He is one of the few Nigerian past leaders who have to date not being convicted by a competent court  of law of any financial crime.
He is also known to have lived a modest livestyle rather than the ostentatious one some of  his contemporaries have chosen.
Many would argue that his integrity status is debatable but as true as that may seem, in the eyes of the law he is an innocent man.Even the worst of his critics do not accuse him of financial crimes they would rather accuse him of nepotism, ethnoreligious bias among others.
He is well respected by other world leaders and he is the first sitting President of Nigeria to pay a state visit to The President of the United state of America- President Trump
His reputation has helped to improve the perception of African leaders while also improving bilateral relations and trade with other countries

♠#4♠ Economic Milestones
Eventhough his administration was ushered in with economic recession thanks to mindless plaundering of our commonwealth by previous administration and fallen oil prices, he manage to steer Nigeria out of recession by his frugal economic postures.
Key areas buhari has made impact includes
Savings -
Nigeria’s External Reserves have grown by US$7 billion since October 2016
The Sovereign Wealth Fund has seen inflows of US$500m in 2016 and 2017 (the first inflows since the original US$1bn with which the Fund kicked off in 2012), and
The Excess Crude Account has seen an inflow of US$87m, in 2017
Infrastructure -
The Buhari Administration has demonstrated a single-minded commitment to upgrading and developing Nigeria’s Transport Infrastructure. Lagos-Ibadan express way is getting more attention than it has even gotten
The Buhari Administration successfully completed the reconstruction of the Abuja Airport runway within the scheduled six-week period (March — April 2017).
Buhari has spent more on capital projects than his predecessors
Agriculture
he has sustained the growth and achievement of Goodluck's administration in this sector through provision of access to credit facilities and soft loans
Others
School feeding program that has kicked off in some state
Improved remission of funds into governement coffer as in the case of JAMB which remitted over 7 Billion in 2017  compared to 20 million in previous administrations

♠#5♠ Major Alliances In South-West
The sitting President may never win any state in the south-south and South-east but he can rest assured about Southwest. He definitely has an ally in fellow party members.
He can count on Governor Ajimobi to deliver Oyo state while Governor Amosun  to win Ogun state and Jagaban to deliver Lagos state as always but the same can not be said of Ekiti state because of Governor fayose's firm grip on the yoruba-speaking state.
Lastly, Governor Akeredolu of Ondo state would also return federal favours he got on his way to power.
Votes from these states and the three geopolitical zones in the North will definitely ease him into Power for the second time

♣#6♣ Gains Against Corruption
One of the major achievement of this administration was recovery of loots from previous political office holders.Eventhough many have called this a witch hunt but the hypocrisy in such remarks is to forget that even his party member were caught in the loops sometimes.
His administration also witnessed the trial of a sitting Senate president which is unprecedented.
It is true that there is paucity of criminal convictions but he could not be held responsible for that seeing the  rot in our Criminal-justice system, which is an independent arm of Government. So there is no Paucity of indictment but paucity of convictions.

♣#7♣ Fear Factor
The  fabric of leadership in AFrica  is woven with fear/respect/adoration.It has been said by many that only a feared or respected leader can successfully rule and transform Nigeria and nothing could be closer to the truth.
Being a former head of state and retired military general with an impeccable pedigree for discipline, he is far more suited than any other candidate.
He has the full respect of the armed forces, this reduces the likelihood of a military coup. His stance on policies and economic decision would also hardly be questioned.
Although many have called his "strong mind" a flaw which has denied him quality counsel since 2015, it is requisite to get anything done for someone in his shoes

♣#8♣ Northern Domination
In the rule books of power it is said "A wise leader surrounds himself with those he absolutely trusts".President Buhari has done just that.
He has been criticised repeatedly for skewing his political apppointments to favour the north but he could not careless.
He has strategically positioned his trusted allies from the  North to help him hold a firm grip on power.
The northerner constitutes the majority in most positions of leadership  from the Military to NNPC and even government parastatals.

♣#9♣ General Apathy Towards Politics
For many, the outcome of 2015 elections was exciting seeing that the will of the people prevailed but that Government has not successfully lived up to all its promises.
The last three years have been mixed fortunes for several people despite all hopes hanging on the current administration. This has led many to lose interest in participating in politics or even voting.
Talking about voting, most of the registered voters are from the Northern part of Nigeria but the more educated and literate South do not have their Permanent Voters card. This means all academic analysis and permutation would end on social media and television screens.
But the less educated North will always vote for their choice candidate, this time - Muhammadu Buhari- come what may....

♣#10♣  Paucity of Popular And/or Credible Candidates
Since the turn of the year many individual have shown interest in occupying Aso Rock but most have been dismissed.Leading this park is the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar whom many says has too many allegation dangling on his neck.He has even been banned from visiting the United States(well this was proven wrong recently)
other candidates include Professor of Economics, Kingsley Moghalu, Motivational speaker and enterpreneur, Fela Durotoye , Publisher of Sahara reporters, Omoyele Sowore among others.
Many have described them to be inexperienced and unfit to rule the country

Na soo

1. A president that once said that Abacha didn't steal any money.
2. A president that has refused to prosecute the former SGF.
3. A president that reinstated Rasheed Maina.
4. I know you have selective amnesia, if not how comes you failed to remember Kemi that fraudulently obtained her NYSC certificate and was given fanfare to UK to go and sin no more.
5. A president that once said that an attack on BH is an attack on the north.

No President in Nigeria has taken Senate President and CJN to CCT, fired his SGF who is also the Administrative head Of the Executive......dared Retired Generals and Past Rulers, probe the Military, fired the DSS Boss and closed down the First Lady's Office, all of whom he needs their cooperation, yet he remains undeterred!!! All because he is fighting CORRUPTION or preventing it!!!

May God Protect him, all the pastors and Imams or Ogbonis that wish him evil, that evil will go back to them and their entire generation. Buhari will live long in good health. God will grant him victory on February 16, 2019 against the PDP and other collaborating THIEVES!!!
