I’m doubtful there’d be any great change with the economy, no matter who gets elected,” says John Campbell, a former U.S. ambassador to Nigeria who’s now a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington.

Investors expect Nigerian assets to rise if Abubakar wins. “As much as Buhari has done in terms of tackling corruption, under his guidance the economy has been quite stagnant,” says Christopher Dielmann, an economist at Exotix Capital in London. “The perception is that, under Atiku, a degree of corruption could return to the country, but that might bring with it higher economic growth.”

EVERYONE KNOWS THAT UNDER ATIKU, CORRUPTION WILL RETURN. THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY, INCLUDING US, UK AND EU WANTS A CORRUPT NIGERIA. THAT IS WHY HSBC AND BARCLAYS BANK LEFT. NO MORE MONEY TO TRANSFER OUT

The former dictator is far far better than the thieving Bloomberg.

The greedy Bloomberg has promised to sell off 90% of NNPC and make his friends rich.
He also promise to give his co-thieves and looters amnesty.
He promised to float the naira
He promised to complete the 2nd Niger bridge because of his wife, not because of Nigeria and Nigerians. shocked

God forbid that Atiku wins the election, Nigeria will forever remain imbalance.

Omo see title. Kleptocrat of international repute. Hahahaha..... Atiku don suffer sha. I will always say it; No matter what Atiku does, the corrupt perception will always hang on his neck...... Buhari might not have gotten it 100 percent right but who's better between an incoruptible man who has made some significant changes with limited resources and a kleptocrat of international repute who would most probably have used the available resources in a kleptocratic manner? I leave the choice to u my fellow Nigerians

Kleptocrat who has never been tried or convicted is better than a dictator who has been convicted by the masses after 4yrs of experiment. Its a clear difference between a technocrat & a dunce.

This encapsulates it.

The koko is that this crop of old men cannot bring the urgent reformist plans to be carried out in order to take this country out of the mess it's in.

Not excited, one bit.

totally wrong from the wrote up all Nigeria needs is sending both Buhari out of gvt and deny Atiku a chance then look for alternative among the ones available, open ur eyes and read and comprehend well

Reading comments, people are already bickering on Buhari and Akitu and we're not focusing on one of the problems raised which is overpopulation.
As the writer opined, the rapid increase in population will lead to economic stagnation as our economy isn't growing (or going to grow) as rapidly as our population.
Government should make it a priority to sensitize people on birth control mechanisms, the advantages of having less children, etc. Especially in the northern part where the TFR is quite high.
Citizens too can play a role, sensitize who you can, Nigeria's birth rate needs to be controlled.

This is why we prefer corruption.

While they call him "alleged"... he was in the USA and even at that, the highest private employer of labour in adamawa, but the other is still the Dictator even in 2019.

How many politicians can Nigeria boast of investing even 50% in Nigeria?.... but here you have aspirants economically attached to Nigeria and some even feel otherwise.

If Nigeria goes down, Atiku/Obi goes down, while Buhari just jets off to Seychelles to feel the ocean breeze.

Get Atikulated..

Atiku is like heat rashes which can be easily managed with dusting powder but Buhari is like having Diabetes, HIV and Ebola all at once!

The next election, in 2023, could be an inflection point, she says. “There’s a real chance that a reformist government emerges then."

BOTTOM LINE - No matter who wins Nigeria’s presidential election, the economy is unlikely to improve, setting up the nation for a humanitarian catastrophe in the coming decades.

Meaning, the fulanis are useless. The only hope of the zoo is if a southerner wins in 2023.
