We worked on a subaru legacy this week. The car was dripping oil (engine oil and automatic transmission oil). We had to take the engine out to change the seals, machine the cylinder head covers and change the automatic transmission seals (there would be a separate article on this later).

When we finished and assembled the engine back, the car wont start. There was spark, fuel, air and we rechecked our timing to see if it was correct but yet the car wont start. We rechecked all electrical connections and hoses to see if they were properly connected and they were except the engine computer connector. When we removed the connector, we noticed it was held tight together by a yellow wire. We forgot to use the wire to tighten both connectors and the locks for the connector was damaged. We used a copper wire to tighten the connector and the car roared back to life. If you got a subaru with a crank no start issue with damaged connector locks, the first thing you might want to check is this connector.

Attached is a picture.
