The Niger State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says the Nigerian government's school feeding programme is "total corruption" aimed at wastage.

Comrade Yahaya Ndako Idris, Chairman of the Niger State chapter of the NLC, said this in his remarks at a 'Solemn Assembly' organised by the Niger state wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) on Monday.

According to The Nation newspaper, Idris said the funds allocated for the school feeding programme should have been channelled to other educational programmes such as the renovation of schools, to benefit the children.

His words: "The Federal Government should immediately stop the school feeding programme; it is total corruption. They should use the money for other programmes; they should commit the money to the renovation of schools.

"We agree today that the Federal Government should stop school feeding. Everybody feeds his child before taking them to school.”

Commending the NUT for organising the 'Solemn Assembly', Idris said it is important for everything to be put in the hands of God as God is the only one who can settle the challenges bedevilling the nation.

Comrade Ibrahim Umar, state Chairman of the NUT, appreciated teachers in the state for their dedication to duty.

At the event, prayers were offered for the smooth conduct of the elections and for God to ”touch the hearts of the leadership” to do the bidding of workers, especially teachers.

The major prayer point at the solemn Assembly was that "God should allow the National Assembly to pass the N30,000 minimum wage bill".

We all know....!! I have said this countless times here on NL
A little research shows the kids in most public schools are fed with watery tea and 3pieces of biscuit on an average of 3times per term yet billions of naira are allocated fraudulently for this purpose.....!!

Buhari is really fighting Kwaraption instead of Corruption....!!

NLC Chairman that's always dinning at expensive restaurants will not know the impact of the school feeding program.

The children's parents are in the best position to assess the program, not an elite whose children are probably living and schooling in America.

You mean feeding school children is better than having a conducive learn environment with well paid qualified teachers?

How many almajiri have they succeed in taking back to school?
How many of the dilapidated schools has been repaired?
Osinbajo is busy enriching his cronies while making the average Nigerian a beggar.
this moribund government is an embodiment of corruption, hate speech, propaganda of false news and calumny.

They way APC leaders take the program baffles me as the program is the major problems the primary schools face in Nigeria. This PDP government they abuse always did a lot for primary schools in term of infrastructure renewal, comparing to the government that termed themselves progressive.

Niger NLC? Trivial.

If you check, well the man is PDP. They have a way of belittle projects for the downtrodden without commensurate solutions. Nigeria is not only for the elites.

After 16 woeful years, you still pay minds to PDP and cohorts, it means you are jobless and corrupt.

Don't throw a baby away with the birth water. Mr. NLC can rightly forward a petition to the EFCC rather than total condemnation of the feeding programme. Some kids somewhere look forward to schools for a good meal once a day and get the hope to continue in the midst of abject poverty. If you have ever been starved, you will know that a meal can make a difference between a good life and criminality. School infrastructure is good and the state's government are responsible, not the FG.

Corruption of filling up political offices with people of one's ethnoreligious group is worse than monetary corruption.

It eats up the fabrics of a country.

US ambassador to Nigeria warns that disobedience to court orders is worse than monetary corruption.

Buhari govt's another name is CORRUPTION
Transparency International fell short of saying this a short while ago.
