The Cross River State Government led by Governor Ben Ayade has approached the Supreme Court challenging the six-count charge against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen for non-declaration of assets.

The suit was filed by the Attorney General of Cross River State on behalf of the state government, reports The Sun.

The Government wants the court to set aside the suspension and trial of Justice Onnoghen at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT.

This is laughable

All these supporter of corruption were hiding before, it's shameful they're now coming out.

Let other PDP states follow and defend corruption which is their trademark.

Cross river has shown to other corruption laden PDP states that they're really in severe pain.

Wike of Rivers should come out and defend his friend, Onnoghen by going to court

Shamefully. Saraki as a coward that he always is, could not gather the courage to push it from the Senate.

I'm expecting other 12 PDP states to join Ben Ayade

Bunch of shameless people!

This is a welcome development, that case should linger until CJN Onnoghen win that case.

It took Southern Nigeria 30years to produce a CJN and The tyrant of Buhari who don't even have a WAEC certificate will come and rubbish a career of over 35years plus career because he is afraid of election.

I salute the cross river state government for standing beside their own son in this time of trial to fight against a wicked dictator.

CJN may not be interested in the CJN office gain and Pres.Buhari may not work with him but for the record after all is done CJN Onnoghen should and will win the case.

But it is rather belated. Too bad.

It should have come at the onset of the trial.
