THE First Lady’s two-day visit to Rivers State ended in a fiasco Tuesday.

All was well, until Dame Patience Jonathan and her chief host, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi got to Okrika – the First Lady’s home town.

The governor was explaining by video his school project in Okrika, saying there must be demolition of some buildings to have space for the schools.

Mrs Jonathan cut in, grabbed the microphone and said the governor should reconsider the way he was going about the demolition. MORE

she then discontinued the "official" visit to the state and returned to Abuja.

This incident makes one wonder if the "First Lady" is an executive office in Nigerian democracy. I think we are back to the days of the likes of almighty Maryam and Stella, those who could influence create of states and appointment of ministers.

The woman run's Jonathan, so excuse her if she confuses her jurisdiction.

She may be from Okrika but someone should tell her Amaechi is the commander-in-chief in River State and surely Amaechi is not her husband.

I don't know when first ladies posseses such contitutional power to want to reverse the decision of a state govenor. . .well,this is nigeria.
The resent security measures in our airports won't be sparing the senate president and speaker of the house from thorough checking when boarding;but the first lady and wife of the vice president are both spared from such embarrassment. . .maybe both offices are very powerful afterall.

She shouldn't forget that the governors have the ace in PDP primaries regardless
this is a very bad first lady she is corrupt she stole money and what part of it is she is illegal and unconstitutional how can you do that to the governor?she dosent have manners at all wasting our money using gulfstream instead of using the same plane as your husband like the yaraduas
Anyway,let her enjoy her status as the first lady because she aint getting it past may 29 2011 that am pretty sure of
