Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, says President Muhammadu Buhari will likely dissolve his cabinet before May 29.

After assuming office in 2015, it took Buhari six months to unveil his cabinet and this attracted widespread criticisms.

But speaking on Arise Television on Thursday, Adesina said the president will not spend a long time before choosing his cabinet members.

He said the president had already promised to do so as soon as possible.

When asked if the president would reshuffle his cabinet, Adesina said: “One thing about governance is that the first mandate was for four years.

“That mandate lapses on May 29, and shortly before May 29, the president is likely going to officially dissolve his government. That is the way it is usually done.

“He says thank you to everybody that he has called to work with him and then he dissolves that government officially.

“Then when he is inaugurated for a second time, he now reconstitute a government; he appoints his personal aides, he forms his cabinet, he appoints other people to fill other positions.”

Buhari was declared winner of the presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday.

The president, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won a second term bid after polling over 15 million votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured over 12 million votes in the election.

I agree with you bro.with the current stability in oil price at 65dollars more income.with oil benchmark at 51dollars for the budget.
Thank God atiku lost. If not they would still squander the excess crude income.

That's the most painful aspect of the election. There's the possibility of the oil getting to $70 per barrel. Also with ban on importation of rice and drastic reduction in oil subsidy which in itself is a safe of almost $20 per barrel from our income, the economy outlook is now looking good. Peter Obi has seen this. It is very painful that they are not allowed to work on the labour of Buhari. They are coming to receive applause for the economy they did not create.

Coscharis, Olam and other rice mills are going to release million of bags of rice into the market, Dangote refinery may finally work. My advice is that the FG should settle with Atiku intels to enable him to continue his contribution into the economy .

Anybody who is somebody in APC and who means well for Nigeria, must ensure that Buhari is not allowed to make a fool of himself with the appointment of new ministers for the new term.

Buhari has 3 months to hit the ground running by 29th May. There is no excuse of uncooperative handover from a different regime, or claims of taking stock of what has been inherited.

He must name his nominees within the first week of June. Buhari must not fuc.k this up.

And he must not be found sleeping while the National Assembly is electing principal officers.
Ekweremadu is ur next senate president
Deal with it grin

- and meant to be wasted (just helping Adesina complete his sentence correctly).

Am baffled at the continual reference to “after swearing in”, “after May 29”, etc. Just feels like Buhari and his team are not already in power, and need to first be sworn in to appoint members of his cabinet. It’s well ooo.
