Everyone is talking about Vals day. But what does it really mean?

St. Valentine's day, also called : Singles awareness day.

To me it's a day for lovers to show each other how much they love themselves (although they r spose to do this, each n everyday of their life). And also families and friends to show love towards each other.

Mr val day, is not just a day for lovers but its also a day to celebrate with your friends, family members and loved ones

so to me, it basically means a day of showing love to one another.

Val'day means alot to me but mostly it is a day u show love to others.

The History of Valentine's Day

Every February, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday? The history of Valentine's Day -- and its patron saint -- is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been a month of romance. St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. So, who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men -- his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons where they were often beaten and tortured.

According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl -- who may have been his jailor's daughter -- who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed 'From your Valentine,' an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and, most importantly, romantic figure. It's no surprise that by the Middle Ages, Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France.

Valentine's Day is a special day for lovers to share their love together...go out and have so much fun together!

to me it's just a day to show love to d ones you love. not necesarily a lover. mom dad, sis , best pals or even urself. it's all about showing ur luv.

Why is val so special? does it mean u all do not love untill vals day?or does it mean love does not xsit until val's day,cos l read some peoples post saying it is a day to show love and be naughty

u can't buy flowers/chocolate or dat cute blouse they've been wanting 4 d ones u luv everyday it's not gonlook special after a period of time not to say u gon go broke.

It's our marriage birthday, the most important day of the year.

i really have a different view to the meaning of valentine's day. i think that everyday should be a special day for lovers. why should we set aside a day in a year to celebrate love, when u are with this particular person everyday.

Stress finding the right, present, card, rose or location for dinner.

As for me, I think Valentine's Day is a day to show and celebrate love,ok.. But I also suppose that everyday should be such a day.. Well, I guess it would be a greater surprise if your girlfriend/ boyfriend brings you a bunch of flowers or another gift on any other day than Valentine's day. On Valentine's day some people make presents only because it is expected that they do so... But I think a present, no matter if it is expensive or not, which you receive when you don't expect it, is more lovely....
All in all, we should share our feelings everyday.!!

It's a lovely day true lovers and friends. People send red roses or white ones, or simply send sweet chocolates to show the affection they have the concerned one!

What i heard about vals day is that Mr. Loverman aka Valentine died on this day for the sake of luv.
I really dont understand why we should be celebrating on the day some one died (4 chrissakes, his death has no effect on our lives).. I mean its not as if he washed our sins away
And which kind guy go die for woman.. I'm sure the woman carried on with her life n raised bastards for the Lord of the Manor... or something like that

Dont mind them jare my guy, we have problems in this life. And moreso, some people too have died because of love and we never celebrate their day.
As for me, I can buy gift, take my girl out any day i want so why shouting Val all the time.
