My windows was peforming an update online when i got a message from microsoft that my windows is fake. Someone told me that the system will crash if i don't get an authentic windows. Is this t rue? What should i do.

I would suggest everybody turn off their windows update except u are very sure it is genuine. However, to know whether you have genuine windows copy run this command in run dialog "c:\windows\system32\oobe/msoobe.exe/a" without quotes. If you get a dialog box saying that "Thanks for using our product" then you have a genuine copy of windows.

If the dialog ask you to activate the product then you own a pirated copy of windows

there should be a sticker under your computer, what OS is displayed there?

erm what happened was that it came with vista, then i had blue screen problem and had to format it

and then in the process i decide to get Windows 7.

3 months later, yawa gas! lol.

im told ill have to buy a new original OS,

, I've got the same complaint too, but 'worse', I ain't got no sticker under my pc, and my new pc DIDN'T come with a single cd, (is that  a bad-sign),  
pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease, abeg, biko,  e joo, how i go remove this embarassing"windows not genuine" story that won't just leave my screen for good!!!

I don't know how you can get it but I have Genuine Wiin 7 setup all u hv 2 do is install it right on d previous 1. It will wipe away d previous 1 but don't worry it will keep all your documents but all installed programs will be lost. I f u'r anywhere close 2 ota u can get it 4rm a cu student free, if u don't know any contact me when u'r around, if I'm still in town dn I could help u.

Your system would not crash but you will be locked out.

Mine is works perfectly and i did it in abuja.one small boy did 4 me and my 3 frends and no complaints.

All you have to do is....
1... Press Windows key + R
2.. A run box will appear.. In the run box,type "CMD" and click ok....
Note: Run "CMD" as administrator.. Now command prompt will appear then type "SLMGR-REARM" and hit the enter button... Shikena....

Your windows 7 is totally fake when you download the operating system form anywhere but you can download operating system by open passwords in microsoft edge in your system it will surely authorized.
