Would More Holiday Be Good For America - Nairalanders In USA Please Respond by tunnytox(m): 4:32pm On Sep 01, 2010
I stumbled on this article while browsing through the BBC website today and I was surprised to say the least that workers in America are not entitled by law to paid holiday like many other richest countries in the world.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-11139960

Countries like Austria, France, Italy and Portugal have very generous paid holiday entitlement which make lives very much easier. Here in the UK many people get as much as 20 days (I'm lucky I've got 27 days) but how would life be for workers who have to work round the clock for the whole year?

I'm sure most workers in the US are getting some sort of holiday anyway but how this was not enshrined in the law amazes me, obvioulsy this would make it more easier for employers to exploit workers without fear.

Your thoughts on this will be highly appreciated
