CONVERSION OF SUPPORT/BACKUP STAFF INTO PERMANENT STAFF IN NNPC
Dear Sir,
We watched with total dismay the recent NNPC recruitment advertisement as directed by the top management of the corporation.
On behalf of all the Support/Backup staff working arduously in the refineries, without giving us due consideration we see the recruitment as an aberration and morally wrong. It is obviously a ploy to technically knock-out almost all the Support/Backup staff in most of the NNPC subsidiaries especially in the four(4) refineries.
We wish to bring to your notice that we are experienced professionals which include technicians, technologists and engineers and we have dedicated a large part of our years working tirelessly for the refineries even with little pay ( at times as little as #35000 and in WRPC working for 13 months without pay) we still work and contribute in no small way towards the production of millions of petroleum products worth billions of naira sent into the national coffers. Some of us are even working as Chief Operators, Panel Operators and Area Operators in most of the refineries.
Sir, we have Support/Backup staff spending upward of four (4) to twenty (20) years of dedicated service to the refineries and working for twelve (12) hours daily with no time to acquire additional qualification, yet when it is time for recruitment a requirement is brought out beyond the reach of so many Support/Backup staff.
What happened to hierarchical level of manpower? What happened to our years of work experience? What happened to our future after expending our youthfulness to the progress of the refineries?
Though, NNPC may claim or declare publicly not to recognize Support/Backup staff or third party contract staff as they may want to call it but the respective refineries know how much contribution we are making in keeping the refineries on-stream.
It is a common knowledge that some powerful agents within and outside the corporation are hell-bent on silencing our cry for help with respect to our conversion to permanent staff. Even using the threat of sack as a tool. Maybe to fill-in our position with their own. We will not be deterred.
We have more than 400, 600 and 300 Support/Backup staff in PHRC, WRPC and KRPC respectively and we demand a pride of place in the affairs of things, specifically in this recruitment.
All the Support/Backup staff in the four(4) refineries are in solidarity in this struggle, the struggle for survival, the struggle of our lives.
We call on The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, The Senate President, The Speaker House of Representatives, The Minister of Petroleum (state) and the Group Managing Director of NNPC to come to our rescue by taking the onerous responsibility converting us into permanent staff of the corporation for the sake of justice, fairplay and equity.
We have the experience, we have the technical capacity and knowledge in making meaningful contribution in keeping the refineries operational. All we need is CONVERSION into permanent staff.
Thank you.
