The election period is a time to canvass for votes. This is the period politicians will promise heaven and earth to earn votes. Some go as far as plaiting hair, washing plates, some even go as far as being the friends of the masses by eating and drinking with them. Anything to retain and gather votes, the tricks are found with politicians.

Election time is over, we have the winners and we have the losers. One thing the federal government used to campaign for votes for the re-election of Pres. Buhari is the completion and activation of the Lagos-Ibadan Railway. But there seem to be some rumours that since the election has been won, it seems the federal government has abandoned the project since it has been used for the campaign.

TrackaNG, Nigeria's number one platform that holds government accountable for projects and accountability decided to see things for itself by visiting the Abeokuta axis to give a first hand reportage of the true nature... According to TrackaNG,

We tracked the construction of Lagos Ibadan railway project and report that work is ongoing during the time of field visit to the project site.

This ends the allegations of whether the conductors have abandoned the project or not. It will be recalled that the ministry of transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi has mandated Nigerians to go to any site the federal government is working and take pictures and upload it to their various social media, according to him, this will help to check whether they are lying or working.

These are some of the images they took... Courtesy of TrackaNG

I'm impressed work is still ongoing for the project but I doubt if the momentum can be compared as during election period.

The project turn up in Abeokuta axis is encouraging and I see that city becoming one of the major cashcow for real estate business in Nigeria.

What is Lagos - Ibadan rail project doing in Abeokuta?

Thank you @AutoReportNG for taking time out to verify things for us here. Like your work.

According to my understanding of this project and any other with china, as long as the federal government has fulfilled their own funding obligation of the expected cost of the project the Chinese will not stop even if a new government come into power. Assuming atiku win the project still goes on. That's why many project enter into with them before the advent of this government is still ongoing even the building of ships for the Nigerian navy. Politics or no politics this project will be seen to it conclusion unless war break out but which i don't pray for.

Still cautiously optimistic that this project will be completed.

Less expectations, less disappointments.

If u raise ur hope in politicians too high, dont be surprised when they swiftly smash your precious hope to the ground when it conflicts with their selfish interests.

This don't even look safe to travel on.

To date, i have not seen any project done in nigeria that have been completed thoroughly. For the price of this project, The chinese, other serious countries, and america, would have done two of these for the same amount.

Didn't the FG say they have commenced free transport on this rail line before the elections? Which means it wasnt even ready then.

Now that the elections are over, lets hope they dont abandon the project like they abadoned trader moni
