For someone who lives or pass through Iyana-Ipaja daily, it is either you are planning to relocate or you have become so used to the traffic and abandoned road projects in this axis. Right from Ile-Epo all way to Kola and some other parts, the road construction has been abandoned with little or no work done at done.

In a report by YNaija Monitor, the ongoing road project in Iyana Ipaja is almost completed. The project includes a double BRT Lane for the entire stretch, Walkways and drainages, Pedestrian bridges and bus-stops.

Sources said the project was supposed to be delivered last year December. It’s three months past the date, yet the project is yet to be concluded. The pace of work on the site has reduced, yet there seems to be no doubt that the project would be concluded before the expiration of the tenure of the current administration.

We did some follow-up based on YNaija reportage and we can confirm that the pace has reduced massively, in fact, no workers were seen on site when we passed the location. The abandoned road construction is having its toll on users of this road as they pay massively for vehicles and spend long hours in traffic too. Oshodi to Iyana-Ipaja used to be 50-100 naira before but now it has skyrocketed to 150-200 naira, if you are early in the park and join the Costa bus, they may take 100naira.

The questions on my lips are, what is causing the delay despite paying for all these roads? Why have the contractors abandoned the projects and who is supervising this project? Why is the Lagos State Government not saying anything on this road? The last time the Lagos State Government said anything on this road was 2018.

These are some of the images from the road courtesy of YNaija

this project is just a waste of funds..
Ambode could have expanded the road or constructed a railway, instead of creating narrowing the road and creating numerous bottlenecks

Report quite true. But bro Oshodi to Iyana ipaja has always been 150-200 unless it is costa n molue u are talking about . The construction has messed up the road, the BRT is nothing other than fostering some peoples business interest. Anybody will lives along this axis will agree that constructing the road without the BRT will favour residents around here as the BRT lanes only narrowed the road. We all know whose interest the BRT serves but we have chosen to all be slaves in Lagos

The governor and commissioner of/for works are to answer your question(s)!
Re: Iyana Ipaja Road Construction In Lagos (Photos) by Nobody: 12:42pm On Mar 22, 2019
Still the road is not in the fresh condition expected of a new project. Some potholes are already appearing on the road due to the continuous impact of tyres pressing on the left-over granites.

The construction workers do not clean up after work and each time tyres move on the left over stones from construction, what results is a pothole...

Also some sections of the road going towards Abule Egba is just one lane, apart from the BRT section. The project is one of the poorest in Lagos so far. Albeit, we're thankful for the long-awaited progress. That road was a huge daily headache.

This is one project whose quality is sooo poor for the parts that have been completed. There are some portions that can take as many as 3 vehicles while there are other portions that will take just a vehicle. The surface of the BRT lane is uneven and I doubt if it will be durable.

You've made a statement that he's not good to govern Lagos but Sanwolu is, wait for your Sanwolu to complete it. You've chosen the dirt backers over your working governor.

Yea, other countries are using trams instead of that concerete nonsense he did there for buses. Ambode was just visionless.

Blessings, OP.
That road construction is so poorly planned that even the engineers most times don't understand what they are doing.

The quality is so poor that potholes and cracks are beginning to appear. I doubt that road will be pliable in the 3 years.
People who move through that axis have been through he'll since it began. That BRT lane they are trying to create is so uncalled for. But what can we do, na 'siddon look we sabi'.

ambode is doing nothing if you care to know. All he does is give those sensitive project to road side contractors that are constructing rubbish compare to what Fashola did 9yrs ago and are still standing firm on the ground and sight. Ambode shld do and getout.

the width of the tram rail pic is even smaller than the new road constructed by Ambode..... Im also sure that the tram rail is far cheaper than the road construction on the Iyana Ipaja roadnglagos....

well,Ambode chose road construction because the contactor/construction companies are owned by Ambode and tinubu cronies

that road was awarded to an incompetent construction company, you need to ply it,seen concrete joining, poor finish work, the gutter and slabs are just not it,i heard the federal government grant lagos state the permission to handle the project,i won't be surprised if money given has been allotted to government cronies as bribe.you do one gutter , demolish it ,rebuild and demolish it again.
Julius Berger would have done it better than those"God knows company given",even a Nigerian company could have done more.
