Lai Mohammed  while appearing before the House of Representatives’ Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values, disclosed that Nigeria is denied foreign loans over herdsmen/farmers’ clashes. According to the Minister of Information and culture, the Federal Government had to engage an international public relations consultant to manage the bad press following the misrepresentation of the clashes between herdsmen and farmers by the foreign media.

He further revealed that they had to send delegations to the United Kingdom and the United States, to execute media campaigns. Lai Mohammed who was asked to explain the engagement of the foreign media and PR lobby consultancy contracts awarded by the Federal Government, disclosed how Nigeria  was denied foreign loans over herdsmen/farmers’ clashes.

He said; “This government has been denied loans because of the misinformation that have been spread out there. The world has become a global village and what happens in Nigeria today reverberates all over the world. And we, in the administration, face a lot of challenges, especially from the comments of the foreign media, from the sometimes hostile positions of foreign governments, even foreign parliaments. So, it is the duty of the Ministry of Information to regularly lobby and address international media in the countries.

“I remember that in 2018 we made two trips to the UK and two trips to the US, and these two trips helped tremendously in actually helping the people in the Diaspora and foreign governments to understand the real dynamics of the herdsmen/farmers clashes.“Until we got there, the impression held by many of them was that the thing was Christians/Muslims, North/South and that time we had to book for interviews with CNN, BBC, Aljazeera, Reuters and AFP. I think it is an important part of governance so that if you cannot mould their opinions, at least it can give them the opportunity of hearing our own side of the story.”

And what’d u expect with all the unguarded utterances of the present government and its poor handling of the herders/farmers clashes(if u can call what is going on a clash or extermination). if Nigeria were a company, I wouldn’t buy shares even if it offered 10kobo per share! Who rushes into bad investments? Not everyone is China! undecided

It's not a clash, never was. It's herdsmen massacre of innocent farmers and once the farmers decide to protect themselves, soldiers come in and arrest them. Apparently in Buhari's Nigeria, the life and welfare of a cow is more important than that of human beings. Bloody terrorists cool

Can you imagine this clown? Thousands of people have been killed by Fulani herdsmen is a fact. Not a single person has been prosecuted is a fact. It is obvious that this government is not interested in solving the problem. Yet this agbaya is talking about misinformation. Would any reasonable lender take this government serious? Is there even a government?

Instead of addressing the issue and stopping this needless massacre of people to take their farmlands for cow grazing, they rather chose to sugarcoat it and deceive the world while still turning a blind eyes to the killings.

And more countries would join the hostility league until you and your cohorts in government call it what it actually is: TERRORISM! put an end to it. As long as you keep politicizing the "clashes" and using it as a political tool against perceived political and religious enemies, the situation can only get worse.
And for your information Mr. Lie, Foreign government aren't stupid. They know the difference between a clash and a war! They understand when a government is committed to the security of its people and when a government choose to look the other way when its herding militia goes on a killing spree! They recognize propaganda when they see one! And most critically, they know that you and your paymasters are perpetual and unrepentant liars!
