Apapa Gridlock Traps 50,000 Tonnes Of Cashew Nuts Worth ₦108b In Lagos Ports by Automotive1(m): 8:07am On Mar 30, 2019 |
Nigerian exporters have raised the alarm that cashew nuts valued at $300m (₦108billion) have been trapped at the Lagos Ports and called on the federal government to come to their aid by addressing the challenges of congestion and inefficiency at Lagos’ ports, which have affected exports. The exporters said gridlock and inefficiency at the ports of Nigeria’s commercial hub, Lagos, delayed shipment of 50,000 tonnes of cashew nuts and is threatening this year’s output as traders are cash-strapped. President of Nigeria Cashew Exporters Association, Tola Fasheru told Bloomberg.com that the fruits from last year’s harvest should have been exported by January. He said: “Instead, they are still in containers on trucks waiting to enter the ports or on wharves" Some members of the cashew association, he added, have defaulted on contracts to the extent that foreign buyers are now walking away from them. He continued : “They are no longer willing to give us fresh contracts,” said the group’s president. The delay is likely to affect the output target of 260,000 tonnes for the current season, which started in February and will end in July. https://autojosh.com/apapa-gridlock-traps-50000-tonnes-of-cashew-nuts-worth-₦108billion-in-lagos-ports/ 1 Like 1 Share |

One of the reasons why Lagos should not be controlled by Tinubu!!! He is not diplomatic at all!!! He is too rigid to be a leader!!! He just want to keep the people in perpetual Poverty while he hands out peanut Note: (modified) for those quoting me, Tinubu claims that he loves Lagos and laid the foundation right So why can't he engage FG and sort this problem since it's bringing untold hardship to Lagosians What does it actually mean to lay the foundation of good governance 21 Likes 2 Shares |

Nigeria and poor planning. Dangote refinery could be operational within 2 years yet the road infrastructure needed to move products have not been started. Construction of the much-talked about Coastal road in Lekki should have been started by now. Extensive expansion of the road network linking into Ogun State and connecting to Lagos- Ore express way should also have started. I fear for the traffic chaos that is coming to Lekki/Ajah axis. 71 Likes 6 Shares |

Failed nation. As expected of one with a dullard in charge. As usual a white woman had to make us realise this. Saw this post on her page days ago with lots of retweets and that was when Nigerians got concerned. We are not serious in this country. 3 Likes |

Lol! You people are calling on a government who the man at the helm of affairs refuse to give assent to the National Agricultural Seeds Council Bill (Cashew Seeds no be seed?) and is collaborating with Lagos No.1 commander-in-thief whose minions do nothing but extort monies from the numerous tanker drivers at the ports on a daily basis for his enrichment? God is using buhari to punish Nigerians and this is just the beginning! By the time buhari is done with Nigeria by 2023, South Sudan will be an Eldorado (paradise) compared to Nigeria. Not my business tho...cos one of my numerous lovers are making plans for the both of us to bolt to Australia soon. 5 Likes |

FG should make other ports function. Lagos port can't take all the pressure. Other ports functioning would bring economic growth. 2 Likes |
