Be mindful of the fact that this only reflects economic misery. If you factor in Misery resulting from terrorism and lawlessness, then you can already know where we should be

It all depends on what is considered to be "miserable"...because the last time I checked, my naija folks are still popping champagne, and drinking big stout like no man's business.

Nigeria will rise again.

Skepticus:

The lord won't do shit. That's hopeless.

Humans should learn to first take responsibility for their actions.
.

There was Responsibility at Babel to unite a Nation but it was at God's Expense.
So God instructs, directs and discerns the affairs of men to sooth His Pleasures.

The man who plays "na me born am, na me give am belle". Is obviously responsible for his daughter. But his Conscience, law and convention speak.

Buhari is bleeping Nigeria off with Fulani Herdsmen, that's why he won't restructure.

The Igbos are approaching in opposite direction by insisting on Biafra, that's why they won't ask the Yorubas for advice.

Everything smacks of Hopelessness.

But God's Will must be done and His Pleasurs served.

How will you achieve that when half the youths are only interested in showing off the gram. Almost a third of the youths are doing yahoo and have no real skill sets. I am from the SW and feel so ashamed seeing how chronic this malaise is over here. You will see 17 year old buying muscle and driving rx350 up and down. Not until crime and corruption is eradicated and treated like leprosy can the youths see the value of hard work and skill acquisition. Who will employ a thief or someone whose only profession was scamming and defrauding white ppl??
We wey get handwork wey no see work do nko?

Is anybody really surprised that Nigeria is ranked 6th? My only surprise is that it did not rank #1. As stagnant and regressive as the Nigerian economy is along with the poverty level of the majority of the populace, no reasonable person or an honest broker would expect otherwise. Nigeria is one of the few countries- if not the only one -that the standard of living of the majority of its citizens gets worse each year instead of better. How can such economic repression and regression continue unabated? How long would the suffering of the masses go unanswered? What would it take for the government to realize that the downward spiral of the country's economy is not sustainable? Maybe it would take a violent revolution of the hungry and suffering masses to redirect the current trajectory of the country. I am not sure exactly, but I am certain that something has to be done.

Are you sure there isn’t an ojoro in this misery competition. Coz Naija nor they carry last for horrible and miserable things oh.

If this research conducted in the Steve guy's office is anything to go by, people like you won't be commenting on issues like this cos you wouldn't have the fund to pay for data.

The only solution is REFORM Nigeria aka restructure. All the developed countries in the world today are doing some kind of it. Even Dubai

The states must be independent to reproduce

But Nigerians don't just get up and shoot themselves like what obtains in the USA sad sad sad sad. There are more murders in California alone every year than Nigeria combined together.

So who is more miserable here? They will never write any good thing about Nigeria anyway. And there are good things happening in Nigeria everyday. Yes, people have jobs in the USA and Europe, but how far does their salaries take them monthly? How many people have been robbed on your street in Nigeria this week? Do you have to pay for your house for 25 years in Nigeria as per Mortgage? Once you build your house in Nigeria, you don't pay any amount of money for it again. There are so many issues they have in the white man's countries too. They are just more organized than us. Plus their currency is strong. But even the money exchange matter is a conspiracy of some sorts. Hmn.

A: This stats is misery index and not poverty index.
It means that all or almost all of its parameters are subjective and not objective. The index is therefore advisory and not pragmatic analysis. Meaning, it is not more than an opinion.

B: The scope of the work is narrow with weak and simple variables and only carried out from someone's office in America. The index is therefore shallow and not holistic enough to represent reality.

C: Consequent on the above, with the data available, I could design my own index to show that the US and UK are the most miserable places on Earth while Nigerians are the most satisfied people around.

D: Remember that here are stats out there which shows tobacco as the root cause of lung cancer as well as research which also confirms that tobacco use has no direct linkage to cancer. Stats is stats. It all depends on what you are looking for.

E: Non of you has ever heard of Steve Hanke before this report. Why do you noe think he should be accepted as an authority on the matter?

F: All of this self hate; hate yourself, hate your country, hate your skin, hate the shape of your nose, hate your accent, hate your hair type, hate your very existence as an African will only take you so far to perdition!!

6th world's Most miserable country.. Can we practice 100% rule of law and see if there won't be 100% reformation?
We claim to be religious yet our national identity is retrogressing by the day... Do God even know us?
We've been conditioned to tolerate and cope with deceptive system of governance... We are not free.... We are not Happy... We're becoming miserable... We aren't helping matters.... A timely awakening note to the giant of Africa!
